Best way to integrate iphone into my setup...?

hi,

i'm thinking of using my iphone as a sound expander with apps like SM,Gadget,Sound Canvas,Sunrizer etc...but i can't use the lightning port to plug a midi interface in because the iphone battery is running out of juice just too quickly.I know, the new USB3 adapter is the solution and i'll get mine today...but it's needed for my ipad and i won't buy a second one just now

So,i never used midi via network or bluetooth but is it somehow (reliable and without latency) possible to connect to my ipad? I also have apps like apollo sound injector, sidecar or midimittr, can i use this somehow?or another"transmitting/receiving"app for that purpose? Can i even feed audio over WLAN directly to my ipad?Although i think that would be too much latency.

  • and a question aboud ChordPolyPad:i already have two chord progression apps but CPP is tempting cause i can use it on my phone as well. Can i also controll apps on my ipad with CPP via bluetooth/network midi?

  • I didn't think you could use the new charging USB connector with iPhones.

{just guessing but} you could use it to power the midi controller having some bargain on iPhone's battery life

I heard you could ... Unofficially

My adapter arrived just now and after a first quick test:works and charges!

    tested with nanokey 2 on 5s (9.3)

  • Hi Crabman. I use my iphone in my set up. I have 4 synth apps being triggered by Fugue Machine on an Air2. Then Patterning and DrumPerfect Pro on an Air1. I then use my iphone with either Loopy or Gadget. As I have a Link enabled app running on each device, they all sync beautifully together for hours of fun. All I need now is 6 fingers on each hand and I'm good to go.

    Well there's a bonus :)

In the mean time reverting to the chord poly pad question,
Chord poly pad supports Bluetooth le straight out of the box, so does synthmaster player
so it's really easy to make that connection.

i'm planning to use gadget with link if nothing else work out.But it would be neat to use the other mentioned apps as well.Maybe i should have a look at some sequencer with link (god,i would sell my mother for an iphone version of ispark that i could use with my spark LE controller...)

  • Gadget and synth master player with link works for me .... Add a splash of auxy to taste :)

good tip with auxy, thanks.i guess i can (midi)control other apps with it as well?Or only internal sounds?Does the iphone version work in landscape as well?

still not really what i want though,i would prefer to midi control external (iphone)apps from my main DAW on ipad.I don't want to switch between differen screens on iphone all the time.Just one app at once. But maybe i'll buy Audiobus remote and play a little arround with it.

  • Auxy with link would be big fun.

Auxy on iPhone does have link. Only problem is it doesn't have background audio :-/
