What's your most annoying time sink with iOS music making?
I've noticed of late that due to how iOS works, I'm spending an awful lot of time deleting audio clips from around my iPad.
I only have 2 or 3 projects running at one time, but as I use apps to manipulate audio, the amount of waste just piles up.
I probably spend as much time clearing space on my iPad as I do writing material

the bottomless pit for me personally is one of apps incomplete on a basic level, if I add up the time I have to export to an app just to do some damn panning and then re-import back into whatever app it's getting obscenely ridiculous.
Please if you create an app that uses samples, please for the love of god allow us to
1. import/export/and delete the samples
2. please allow us to mix the samples properly (panning)
3. please allow us to truncate the samples destructively so that we can save our storage space
Devs need to understand that Audioshare isn't the other half of your app please complete your app and get paid.
@kobamoto
Yes all constructive criticism there. Hope Devs are listening.
Don't know what I'd do without Audioshare (please Mr Audioshare...please please add multiple delete!) - solved apology to the dev
imagine if Jonatan had followed the rest, we'd be up the creek without a paddle!
Audioshare already does multiple delete.
I find anything having to do with getting audio files from one app to another to be a total time suck. So much so that these days I pretty stick with all in one apps.
How?
All files go to the trash. Then you have to delete the trash individually as far as I can see.
Please tell me I'm wrong - would save me so much time
The AudioBus forum
O Yes! But I fool myself by calling it 'down time'
Thanks @richardyot
You've now freed up lots of time for myself.....now to create or chat here? Hmmmm
Phone calls
Not had that problem. Sounds a right pain. Has it done it always?
Block out the outside world. My wife often says I'm becoming an iPad hermit
File management in general.
+1000... If only Audiocopy did not exists and every app was using Audioshare as the main source of samples (as in Bloc Waves for example)... This would permit to have a single big audio files manager on the device to centralize all the sounds, it would be so great ... LOL
Bing bing bing....
File management for sure. i also find the mixing and editing stage in general is a pain on iOS so I offload all that to PC. IOS for recording / playing and then PC for the rest.
Oh it looks like audiocopy was updated with 24bit support, that Helps me a bit as i still do like to copy from cubasis and paste in egoist.
Depression / anxiety
I'll get you Butler!!
File management. Not having anywhere where you can work with all the files needed for a project and not having multiple versions all over the place.
((Apple HQ red phone under glass lights up)) 'Oh my God someone is trying to load a wav file!'
Having to plan a session too much. I don't typically like to work the same way each time cause it's fun to experiment and that brings inspiration BUT, it's always figuring out "well this app does this but not that, etc"
@Nathan - the orientation lock has moved to the control panel thingy!
YES.
II originally went all iOS to save time and hassle as opposed to working w a laptop (reason, Logic, etc). Sometimes I wonder now if I did the right thing. My saving grace, however is knowing how far iOS has come in the last two years. I'd be willing to bet that 2-3 yrs from now, most of the above concerns will have been addressed. Not to mention how awesome Auria will beat that time.
The iOS workflow has been great for me but there are a few problems that can be frustrating.
Apps that don't have audition for samples (Patterning, etc) and the file management flow could be improved.
But by and large compared to the olden days with PortaStudios that needed to have their heads cleaned before every session and degaussed every few days or the more intricate balancing act a computer DAW needs (drivers, etc, iOS recording is a breeze.
Since AuriaPro, i've no real complaints. I've developed a very self-contained process thanks to FabFilters for guitar/analog synth processing, the Twin 2, and the IAA Patterning. All i really need.
Further thoughts re. the file management thing.
I know it's not directly analogous, but the camera roll in iOS performs in a way that would be very useful for music making, as a place for organising files that apps can easily access.
Yes, even if they did it just for Wavs to start with.
