Has SAMPLETANK become obsolete in your repertoire?
So many quality and more advanced apps now since when S-tank first hit IOS.
I really don't use it anymore. Plus it is a huge app.
Thoughts?

Still some very usable sounds in the packs. Not sure what really replaces it all except many other apps that would soon equal 3gb anyway.
Such an easy app to delete for space...
Scary when you think I have 9 apps that are 1gb up to 5.7gb. These 9 apps take up more than half my iPad space
there may be better sounding apps but I am not aware of one that lets you so quickly set up four instruments on different channels, and with such a sound variety (including the Miroslav) so for quickly trying out sound combinations, I still use it a lot
Nice but Deleted...
Not all all. I run 2 instances of it on my phone now that I have 113 GB. I find it very useful. However, I don't run it on my 16 GB iPad. It is a resource pig.
I like Sampletank for iOS, and have it on Mac also (v.3.63)...
But, nowadays it should at least manage upp to eight sounds/midi-channels on the iPad Pro 12.9"...
Sampletank is one of the big quality apps that has brought iOS forward from the early beginning...
But, pity for us, but many of the very early professional looking apps has not progressed like much of the whole iOS community...
IK Multimedia, what is the future for Sampletank in iOS?
I was sometimes thinking an IAP for better sound quality would be a nice option
I've been saying it for a while: a cleaner interface and the ability to use igrand and ilectric sounds within the app.
I know this is possible because korg does it with module and gadget.
Yeah, that´s a nice idea!
Come on IK Multimedia, make some progress in Sampletank for iOS!
Not my first choice (any for that matter) when I add a synth in the AB chain.
No, not obsolete.
I'll always appreciate having a huge amount of nicely organized sampled instruments around. Thank you IK Multimedia.
I love it! I find it essential, because I use an iPhone exclusively, and it is one of only 23 existing IAA Instrument apps that work properly as an IAA Instrument. It has the transport and is flexible, and does exactly what I want it to do. It has a load of great real instruments. If you have the space and you are using an iPhone and want to be able to sequence real instrument parts, you have only three choices really: SampleTank, ThumbJam, BS-16i. They are all excellent apps, and I highly recommend all of them, but they each have their strengths and weaknesses.
MY #1 issue is size. Size matters. It is so frustrating when something is too big.
Waitwut
I think some of it may be sheer boredom. And being bored with the app is totally on me. The sounds are just so vanilla. The loop method is sometimes a little clunky.
I think I just like progress.
I don't feel any excitement with the app, or from the company. Not 1 new sound in years? C'mon.
Between Gadget(M1/Module) and Beat Hawk I have no need to do Sampletank anymore.
The Triton IAP and M1 are more than I ever need for "real" instrument samples.
Besides, I am not big into samples anyway. Unless I make them myself.
Totally matter of taste. I get why many may disagree with me.
I would pay, no doubt.
Maybe an x/y pad, some more modulations, less "music for dummies" 1998 style?
No, I still use it. It was one of my first app purchases. Can't get around that samples take up memory, and I bought the Tank and the samples offered because it does as advertized. The value is in quick and organized access to lots of decent real world sounds. Occasionally it's even fun just to play around with layering the loops that come with it. Would I still buy it today? I think I would.
I use it all the time. I have 128 GB so the size isn't an issue. It got interesting for me when I got the Sonik Synth and Miroslav Philharmonik sound collections. Put a great reverb on the latter and I bet those sounds can compete with almost anything on the store except for FingerFiddle. It is rock solid to bring instruments into Auria Pro. I also find it fun to use it with AUM. I put a backing track on one channel and then try different instruments on my SampleTank channel.
As much as I love to play resource eaters like SynthMaster on their own, sometimes it's nice to have simple instruments like this that play with others easily.
I do hope that IK adds more sound collections. When they had their sale last December, the sound packs were half price.
I use ST3 on my pc all the time but am not a fan of the ios version. But I also have only 32gb on my ipad.
I have a feeling there will be a major update this year as there was in Sampletank for Mac and PC
Because there has been an influx of such quality sounds for iOS I think IKMultimedia should discount the expansion packs in SampleTank. That string pack and a few others still go for up to $20, and with stuff like Auria's Lyra ability to play SoundFonts and some of the other newer apps with excellent sounds IK should try to do some business vs. no business if those packs or the app itself are kind of stagnant.
I like SampleTank. Good sounds, but the midi is iffy. Would like IK Multimedia to put a bit mor love into this app. Maybe make a AU unit to Our?
Strip back all the SampleTank fx and run it through Auria FabFilters and the sounds can be made bang up to date
I still use it, perhaps more intermittantly, but I would like them to add more complete editing and effects options a la desktop Sampletank, and also make it 16 track and not just 4, there is surely the horsepower on modern devices to allow this.
I use it now and then but have had problems of late to have it play several instruments at the same time (yes, different channels, yes, the instruments are "active"). Last week I had to give up and fired up BS-16i instead, just to get a horn and oboe to play at the same time. I never used to have a problem with this in SampleTank so it might be due to iOS 9.3.x or something.
Speaking of BS-16i I was reminded it can actually play 8 channels at the same time if your device can handle it.
I deleted it for space and just did not use it anyway.
Bs-16i can do 16 tracks. SoundCanvas can too.
I would like to see ST bump up the tracks and give users the ability to delete samples, so you can trim it down.
Yes. Double plus on the delete...
I like SampleTank, but it's too big to keep around unless I want something from it (nothing to date). And remembering whether it has what I can use or digging around for something useful are 'workflow' killers.
SampleTank has a nice range of drums and midi loops. Play a midi loop on the drums, then change the Transpose value quickly. Record and add delay for some delicious warped out drum loops
