Nice.
Hey thanks mr lala. Do you like Cinematic Orchestra?
Sounds dead cool, I like the blend of live and digital instruments. Cool drum grooves and riffs.
Could you give any comments from your experience regarding getting Samplr in synch and especially the practicality of it's arpeggiator mode. I use it pretty extensively but haven't used it in any rhythmical ways, defo something I'm going to start. I've heard that Link is on it's way, but got no idea of timescale.
Cinematic orchestra, one of my favs! Great musicians
Yeah, they're good. I especially like the session where they play in the background of a very old Russian movie.
I've asked because that track reminded me a bit of Cinematic.
This is another one from that session. Quite different.
Unlike cinematic orchestra I'd like to bring these composition to be more songs. Maybe not in a strict sense but definitely with more 'organised' vocals with lyrics, meanings etc. Basically to make it more comestible to a common man rather than just musicians.
I have loopy's sync settings pointed at samplr and there is a switch in samplr's settings to listen to loopy. Pretty straight forward. The sync isn't perfect especially when you play two very choppy loops against each other. There is a clear flam going on but with choppy stuff coming from samplr and more organic/rounder from loopy, one can get away with it. In my case the drums seal all of the sync imperfections.
I'm hoping link will solve this but not sure when and at what cost. I don't like things being broken when new features are added.
Cheers. Yeah I did find that with MIDI in from loopy the tempo held constant (most other sources seem to fluctuate all over the place) but also noticed what you said. It's not flawless. I was hoping that when I looked into it in more depth that I'd find some magic way to get it lined up. Kudos for getting it working with what's available though, you've got it nailed in that vid.
Update:
I tried a 'Hail Mary' with this since typing the first half of this post. I was already using Link To MIDI for syncing auto repeat on my MPD, and I'd spent a bit of time meticulously fine tuning the latency offset to get it just right (using AUM's metronome, +60 at last check). I sent Link To MIDI through AUM on to both Samplr and MPD, managed to get them both hitting EXACTLY on the click. Might be worth some experimenting, didn't try it in music yet but the BPM seems to hold steady and they're metronomically perfect in the testing I did. Hopefully, magic happened!
F... love this one, I'd kill to produce it
I wish I could send you audio stems but it's all scrambled
Do us a favor, F..... DO IT !
Nice jam.
Nice one Dom. I'm with Crony-I'd love to get all King Tubby on that track.
Think you undersold the title though. "Impaktor, Samplr, Turnado, loopy, and my drummer all in sync!" Impressive shit!
Yep, way cool tunes all around.
Great sounds!
Yeah, gotta love the old dubby feel. I for one find it easier to write melodies and lyrics on top of raggae-ish grooves than all the funk/drum and bass kind of thing. It's also amazing how much silence there is in reggae phrasing.
My drummer is definitely pulling in the afrobeat direction. Watch this space

Cheers guys!
Not that my endorsement means anything to anyone, but:
I highly approve of this groove.
So much this. Constantly amazed when I listen to solid roots reggae at how few notes they play. A genre almost entirely about the spaces between. Probably why dubbing works so well—there's lots of room for it built into the core.
