FabFilter Twin is awesome!
Just saying. Since I decided to really learn it, I'm using less and less my other iOS synths. I usually make my own sounds, but I was doing that without much use of Twin's modulation panel, where resides the cool stuff, out of sheer laziness. The drag and drop routing method is so cool and intuitive! And the 16-step arpeggiator is awesome and very powerful, and also quite easy to use - and using it actually made me smile remembering folks complaining Auria Pro lacked a built-in arpeggiator, and it was there all the time, waiting to be explored. Hope Rim includes a global keyboard soon in Auria Pro, to make the experience even better.
Dimitri.

Get Navichord
Navichord with FF Twin have all the potential to make a really great couple. Do they get along fine, @Tones4Christ?
I need to spend time with it.
Wish some one who understands it better ,would do some video tutorials, I tend to get a bit lost, and go back to using Cubasis ,and I KNOW I"my missing out !
O Yes. Worth the price of Auria Pro admission. FF Twin really is one great synth. Just wished it had a much larger UI or I had a midi controller with knobs.
If it only would have full screen mode as pro-q
For sure it's a powerful synth, but there's the rub. I'd like to see a auria set-up that uses (say) 8 instances of this synth in a track. My feeling is that twin two was developed primarily for use in the desktop environment than for iOS, due to it's high CPU requirements on the ipad. (I can't comment on the ipad pro's, as I don't have either)
Don't get me wrong, I like the synth, but to build up a track from it as one would with synths in Korg Gadget, is not happening (on my Air 2). Before it's mentioned, freezing is not the answer in my view.I remember people were saying the same thing when vst's starting coming out in the days of Pentium processors
I agree, freezing tracks isn't the answer - just get on with it and use an actual audio track.
I Presume you mean just work with the frozen audio track ? What if you want to make changes to that part later ? For me, the advantage of working with sequencers / midi, is that it's all 'live' and you can go back and make changes as the track develops.
Hmmm...
I can't have them to work out together... Have I missed something in either Navichord or Auria Pro in the preferences?
No sound out of Auria Pro (have background Audio enabled)...
Any clue someone?
@Igneous1 - You made a bad presumption. "Just get on with it" means make a commitment and move on to the next thing. I don't like MIDI very much and I work mainly with audio. If I want to change something I play it over again. I don't like doing that, so I try to get it right the first time.
I don't think l made a 'bad' presumption (?). We're talking about a softsynth in auria pro. I do stuff as well which is purely audio.
A thousand times and from your lips to the Synth-God's ears. It feel like owning the Mona Lisa but only being allowed to look at it through a telescope.
@Igneous1 - I had just said freezing tracks wasn't the answer, use an actual audio track - so I thought it was odd that you thought I meant a frozen track. No big deal. I bought Auria long before MIDI was on the table (specifically because it was designed for audio, not MIDI) and I got the Pro upgrade for the audio improvements. I use MIDI now and then, but I still don't see the need for the "live" thing or the aversion to freezing. Different strokes and all.
@MrNezumi
Okay so, I'm not contributing to this thread to argue the toss.
Just to point out that the Twin Two whilst undeniably fab is a resource hog and people who don't have it and Auria Pro and are thinking of getting them primarily for using the synth should be aware of that.
All complex synths are resource hogs as far as my hardware (iPad 1) is concerned, @Igneous1: at least I have the possibility of having more than an instance of Twin open because of the way Auria does thnings, which is more than I can say about any other serious iOS synth other than iSem.
Cubasis' Micrologue is a toy, so it's not even worth to compare, and I always considered Gadget a single synth where you can play several presets at the same time, since it has a built-in multitrack sequencer. iMS20 and iPolysix can also do that, minus the awesome piano roll, of course. I also prefer to tweak my sysnts, and the control of each gadget ("preset categories" for me) is not deep enough to get my interest.
My approach to the resource issue, not only with FF Twin, but also with FF One and all the complex synths I can use as iAAs, is a two step system: 1) play what I want with MIDI, edit and quantize if needed and 2 ) save a copy of the MIDI data in a dummy track, then bounce the "real" track to audio and apply FX, automation etc. Of course this slows down my workflow in comparson to a desktop environment, so I'm planning to get an iPad Pro as soon as it gets its second revision.
All the best,
Dimitri.
One of the biggest reasons (excuses) I have for stealing the milk money towards a 12 Pro.
It is the best all around synth in my opinion. That Raw filter...so good.
For the person wanting tutorials, just YouTube FabFilter Twin 2 and watch the 2 10-minute vids from FabFilter. They are the best, most concise tutorials I've ever watched.
I've had Auria Pro since January, and am just now beginning to hear how great Twin 2 actually is. I pretty much dismissed it completely at first, but it really does sound fantastic. Thanks for the heads up on the FabFilter videos @oat_phipps. They are helping to demystify what was at first a fairly intimidating user interface. Agree with those wishing for a full screen mode. It would help tremendously.
I am now eyeing the Ambient and Synth Classics preset packages in the Auria store. Has anyone 'round here picked these up?
I've got synth classics and electro. Good starting points to tweak for your own sounds.
Like Ambient.
They're both worthy, the synth classics are by far the best. I don't do presets much, especially since this one is so fun to program, but there are many great presets I could see myself using.
The FabFilter One gives meaning to basic synthesizing imo
Presets yes fo' sure, all (:
The One is also very cool and better than the vast majority of iOS synths, but Twin is outstanding, a very impressive soft synth. The two, alone, worth the $50 price tag of Auria Pro. A synth combo with comparable synths, say, Animoog and iMS20, will cost you 20% more and won't give you the advanced audio & MIDI sequencer, the FXs etc.
Guys, I ask you again:
How do you set your preferences in Auria Pro to sequence Twin2 or another of the instruments in Auria?
I have tested with both Navichord and Chordion, but Auria Pro refuse to listen to incoming MIDI data...?
There's a couple of places in Auria there you set the tracks MIDI parameters, but, it must be more than that to let Auria Pro compatible with Navichord...
What is it that I miss here?
When in stand-alone Auria is by default set to not run in background. Have you checked?
mschenkel.it, yes sir, I have Background Audio enabled...
Perhaps I have to reinstall Auria Pro... Can't see any wrong settings what so ever... Strange...
Be sure to arm the track in Auria. You won't hear anything otherwise.
Betcha it was the arming thing though eh?
@ErrkaPetti
Just tried and everything just worked straight out(open Auria>add midi track>load FFtwin>Arm rec the track>open navichord/chordion>play) the box both with both NC and Chordion. Sorry I can't help
Hope your not doing what I just did.....I forgot to turn the volume up!
