managing storage
I dont not know how this is happening but Auri's size is getting larger and larger. Yes I do recording but this is in huge jumps. Just yesterday I looked and Auria was taking up 2 gigs and now it is over 7 gigs. Financially I'm stuck with a 16 gig ipad so someway I need to learn how to deal with the space I have but this big jump in file size, there has to be something that can be done. Any ideas?

Are you using Auria or Auria Pro?
If Auria Pro, do you have Lyra fully loaded?
Are you loading up lots of loops or large samples from other apps?
What are you recording at 16, 24 bit?
Some things to keep in mind:
Audio files sent to Auria can be deleted once used in a project.
Non used projects can be sent to the cloud.
Each project takes up some storage space.
24bit audio eats space.
Lyra fully loaded is BIG.
I guess the few projects I had were taking up too much space, I just do not know how I'm going to make this all work with such limited space
I would like to record in a lower bit, I went to prefs but did not see an options for it.
Auria Pro or non Pro?
If Pro how much of Lyra do you have installed?
Auria Pro and not sure if I have Lyra installed or not
After a month and a half, I still feel totally lost in Auria
You can change the sample rate as you set up a project.
The record bit rate should be changed in your audio device settings (I believe).
Lyra is installed, but the extra sounds are downloadable by choice.
I have Auria Pro with Lyra fully downloaded and 3 small projects running, currently 5.9gb total.
Go visit the Auria forums for specific help. Search out any videos people have done online.
Keep at it - it falls into place eventually.
Cubasis as an alternative. Easier to use in my opinion, but you can't then use all those lovely FabFilter plugs you have!
Any other advice on how I can use my limited space efficiently? I need all the help I can get
You will have to make some tough choices on what to keep on a 16gb iPad.
Or only do songs in ‘A cappella’ style.
Don't we all?
Just a thought. Have you deleted the Auria demo project? That takes up storage.
Do you have a computer available for backing up your projects in itunes? After that you can select 'auto-clean up' projects in Auria.
What issues are you struggling with especially?
Don't forget that if you reduce your to 16 bit from 24 you will be reducing your recording headroom, this would not be advisable if you are recording source material with any real amount of background noise, overdriven/distorted guitars for example.
I too only have 16GB to play with, and I have found the best way to limit my storage requirements is to work on as few projects at a time as possible. This has the added benefit of forcing you to either finish something or throw it away.
Also you can remove heavy storage use instruments when you are not using them, I couldn't count the amount of times I have uninstalled/re-installed module to get a spare 1GB to enable me to finish something.
Also 'freezing' audio will take up a lot more space than letting the instruments play live. This uses less storage but puts a lot more stress on the ram and processor.
Clean up recordings when they are no longer needed. If for example you use Bias and record audio internally, then export it to Auria, delete the original file from Bias afterwards (I am assuming here that you can record within Bias, I do it with tonestack). This is where something like AudioShare can really help, export every recording through audioshare, delete it from the original app and manage the recordings in audioshare, this will allow you to send them to DropBox for off device storage, but they can be easily restored to the device if needed.
I do not know what Auria allows, but within cubasis you can archive a project and send a zip of it directly to dropbox, and then through dropbox open a project zip file back into Cubasis, this I believe will work with some of the lightning storage devices that are now available meaning you wouldn't need to be near a Wifi connection to do it.
Unfortunately it can become a delicate balancing act sometimes
Well I decided to ditch Auria due to it's file size and went back to Meeor. It worked great for me before and the only reason I had switched was I was afraid I was missing out on something.
@AndyPlankton
I better stop sending you large files then
Yeah just come back to it if you really need it in the future
its fine, I just keep them in drop box, and load them when I need to , this space thing is why it is taking me so long to get stuff done and back to you, nearly there with converting the old Cubasis and Gadget Midi projects into ModStep.
I can send you some large ones back if you like, if you just want the original mix downs to see what you get a feeling for ?
Yeah send me anything. Going to buy my wife a new dress today, so no new app money for a while plenty of time to get creative!
@buzz98 You have my respect and condolences for making music on a 16GB iDevice. I'm lucky to have multiple iOS devices, but I use my 32GB mini2 most often for music creation and production; the battle for storage is a continuous one. My weapons are Dropbox, Airdrop, External and Wireless flash drives, and perhaps most important is daily file maintenance and clean-up.
Good luck, and keep at it.
Ask be sure to record mono sources as mono.
I haven't been using Auria much so I don't really remember but if I recall there was something weird with the way it stored copies of edited clips.
This!
The size is a bit obnoxious at this point for what it does.
