best realistic electric guitar patch or synth to make such....

Any recommendations? I like Garage bands electric guitars but can't be used with other apps. Im looking for something to play with AUM and add effects to give it that realistic guitar Edge style from U2 delay effect, maybe sample it?

Thanks!

  • Tonestack is the app I use for electric guitar sounds, but there are many good ones out there.
As far as clean electric samples go, the best I've found is actually the jazz electric in the Korg module triton expansion. Run that through tonestack and you've got a killer clean electric sound. Very long decay, and pitch bend/vibrato too.
Other good sample based guitar apps would include guitarcapo+ and the expansion pack in sampletank. I'm also interested to hear what others are using to get realistic sample based electric sounds.

  • ThumbJam has a decent lead sound. The problem is if you want any variety. I don't know how many sample packages have clean, overdrive, and the 8 million levels of distortion. It's always going to be a bit limited.

I've been ~playing~ GeoShred with a lot of promising expression, thanks to @moForte 's awesome sound engine.

  • Gonna check TJ. I have tonestack so I'LL process it thru that and see.
Haven't checked Sampletank. I dont have module though.

  • If you have Nave, Ryan from iOS MARS created some guitar-based patches for Nave. I think you can still download them. They're a bit on the heavy distortion side.

  • Bebot and Squashit disrortion make killer leads.

  • Here's a brief demo of what Korg module electric sound like through tonestack.

  • That was really nice man. Thanks!

I was looking more for like a clean guitar sound that I can overdrive and add other effects to create that U2 edge guitar player tone with delays. Only thing is that I wanna use the iPad only as I can't take my mini controller to work. Something that can get close to it. So far I've done it with garageband but hopefully I can get it done outside GB.

  • +1 for Geoshred :)

  • Geoshred and iFretless are best for lead sounds , and most FX will add grit and depth . Tonestack is the best choice for guitar FX though :))

  • ThumbJam is great. Would be nice if he added a strum feature tool, while your axing it up with the other fingers.

  • For clean, jangly sounds (or power chords) Jam Maestro is very nice sounding.

  • The thing about the Edge's sound is that he gets so much of it from pick attack. I don't know an iOS app that will get that attack.

  • As long as its close. I got some pretty close delay effects with Garage Band. I think I might have been using the smart guitar. Don't recall by ill try TJ I think there's a clean Guitar sound in there to mess with. I'll pass it thru Tonestack, delays, mod delays and see where that takes it.

Check the Sounds->Download Samples in TJ, there are a few clean electric guitars in there intended to be used with external processing in other apps. You'll probably want to make a preset using them with the delay and reverb turned off though.

+1 for iFretless and Geoshred. I've run iFretless guitar through tone stack and it can make its samples a bit more realistic - plus iF has pseudo velocity which makes it a bit more expressive iMO

    Nice.

  • Thanks!!! Yeah I think I downloaded all available samples in Thumb Jam.. I really love this amazing awesome sounding app! Totally forget sometimes the tools we have as we keep adding new apps to the arsenal but Thum Jam is a true Gem.

I think I remember there's an Anderson guitar sample in there. Will check it out during lunch break. :) :) forget eating...making music is more fun ;)
