Using Thumbjam to 'Quantise to key signature' with MPD pads
Little video demonstrating the MPD performance layout that I've been working on for my major upcoming performance project, heavily utilising iOS music.
I was looking for something that gives me the immediacy and musicality of a diatonic interface, without losing the flexibility and utility of moving between different keys and tonalities on the fly. I also needed easy access to pretty much every kind of chord shape without too much memorisation. With the help of the wonderful Thumbjam and it's brilliant creator, I've found something that works for me:
[shameless redirection] I've gone into a little more depth on my artist page below, and I'll be posting regular iOS music related updates subsequently. The next one will be more depth on the 'smart' harmonic note mappings for the MPD pads.

Drop me a comment or message there! I'd like to become more connected with the iOS music world in facebookland, so it'd be nice to get some discussion going on between our pages.

Heh. gotta love that thumbjam. I pretty much use it for scale remapping even when using ableton on my pc. so much better than abletons scale tool.
Amen. Not that I want people to bite Jesse's work (any more than they already have) but I don't understand why 'white keys to scale' isn't now the default for scale locking everywhere—it's the most natural way to do it. At least for scales with 7 or fewer notes.
