DXi FM synthesizer updated - 4.18.16

Updated AB but more intriguingly 'Increased the number of simultaneously emitted sounds'.

One of my first loves, time to take another snog maybe...

Comments

  • Thanks for the tip. It's one app I keep meaning to get around to...

  • Not used it much as I'm a TF7 fan, but there is no doubting it's a cracking DX bass monster :)

Would like to get into it more, but again....the interface....
Some nice updates to it I see, but still with the tiny buttons, sequencer and loads of unused space. Makes no sense to me. Fill the space, make things bigger. I'm on a mini here man, help me out.

  • Thanks for the heads up.
    It is a monster.

Does this mean it's multitimbral now? If so, how many voices?

Think I'm gonna get in line for the Volca FM.

Don't know but there are a few issues in DXi that drive me nuts...

    • The 'Auto Save' of presets making it way too easy easy to unintentionally screw up the preset.
    • The bank-management needs to be improved.(Save/Load Bank, Only 'Recall All Presets' is present).
    • For some strange reason the 'keyboard position' is saved with each preset?!
    • The sequncer could be 'bigger' and include a 'poly mode'.
    • The 'recorder' should include a 'wave-trimmer' and include optional 'Open In...' as export option.
    • Multi-Timbrality would be a nice bonus (It already acts almost like a TX81z).
    • FM-Engine could be updated to include more algorithms and feedback control for all operators.

Still it's one of my favourite FM-Synths on iOS :)

  • Thanks for the heads-up JGY and as usual I feel like @Samu should be a paid App Consultant. x

Multiwotsit? Like I can use all the different fingers the Yakuza didn't cut off at the same time like? I ran out at six.

Thanks muchly but that's polyphony. Multi-timbral means number of discreet sounds at once, usually via multiple MIDI channels. Was hoping "simultaneously emitted sounds" meant it was now multitimbral. Can it respond to multi channel MIDI with different sounds on each channel (like, say, BS-16i or Thumbjam)?

    ++++1

  • Certainly a bargain app, and very close in sound to the TX81z or DX21 (obviously without the grit of the hardware's DA path). I echo some of the gripes regarding the tiny controls & I find the sequencer pretty unusable but, for the price, the noises it makes are great.

  • Agree with @samu: auto save is evil. Background auto save to a recovery version, not the 'real version' is a yes please thank you very much sir.

What are the chances that the UI will be updated? Any guesses? Any one been in contact with the developer? (I think I tried once)

Just needs to make everything wiiiiiiider/BIGGER.

Edit: been playing with it more now and man it could be one of my favorites but this UI is one of my least favorites. Trying to control those 3 faders on the left with my thumb? Barely ever get what I want to happen. Everything is so close together and small. It's bad. But it could be awesome. Let us help you man! If you're out there.
Did any of the DXs have knobs like these? Why no sliders instead?
