I usually use it just as a simple midi sound source Juno, supersaw synth and 808 drum machine to lay down ideas in a midi sequencer. It works!

I really love the harmonica downloadable samples. They really rock and totally blow away my own harmonica playing, which isn't too bad if I say so myself. I can do note runs on TJ without any mistakes such as blowing two notes at the same time, which does happen enough in regular fast playing. It makes me sound pretty darn awesome! I think I'd buy the app just for the harmonica honestly.

Just for the quality of the sampled sounds that can so easily be driven in so many ways, TJ is worth it. For most folks, it's most of the samples you'll need. So, I know I'm not using it to anywhere near it's full potential, but it's worth the price of admission just for that. And then, just messing around with it is a whole lot of fun.

Not saying that you are guilty of this, but personally I overlooked TJ as a controller and thought of it as a sound bank for a long time. I used other apps to, for instance, play a bass line because I thought I was getting a more natural sound out of app A or B controlling Thumbjam. One day the fog cleared and it hit me that if I pick the iPad up and play TJ with my hands, I can't really name a more expressive iOS app. It's the closest I've come to playing a real string instrument, and I don't mean in the sense of tactile feedback, obviously. But expression wise, if you fiddle with the settings especially to get them to your personal liking, I don't know of another app that lets me truly touch and feel my way to the sound I want quite like Thumbjam. Admittedly, I don't own Geoshred. Maybe it's equally as awesome.

I did this as well. The sounds provided in TJ are top notch(well maybe except for the Power Chrod one). And there are so many. But..........Now it is my favorite way to control my favorite synths. And sound like I know what I am doing, and, this is huge ------->Never hit a wrong note! <--------------

And as you mentioned before, being able to use your finger to vibrato, pan, volume and so on. It's genius and works better than anything I've used. Geoshred is quite awesome, but.....And maybe it's because I have played TJ more and have had it longer.........It's still not as easy to use as TJ, and I'd give Geoshred a 10.......TJ is at least an 11.

And the cost of it, it's mind boggling to me that it's so cheap!! $9.00!?!?!? You can't even see a crappy movie for that anymore.
