'Morphotheek' Formbank album - thanks to the SOTMC
I released my album 'Morphotheek' today and I'd like to say that the SOTMC had a hand in me getting the album finished.
I used the SOTMC as a 'push' to get me to work on a track each month and get it to a decent work-in-progress (mostly finished) state. After a few months I had the bulk of the album's tracks in that state. It was also very instructive to hear people's feedback - particularly about the unstructured state of some of my earlier tracks So, cheers for that !
The album's tracks have all been reworked since they were submitted to the SOTMC (some 'non-SOTMC' tracks were added too) . All the tracks were created in Gadget, and I took advantage of the per track eq and compressor in the new version of Gadget for the final reworking phase. The whole album project took just over a year (whilst working on other projects as well) and I'm pleased it's finally finished / released. Now onto other projects using Auria Pro, Cubasis, Noatikl etc...
Anyway, it's here:

@Igneous1 Many congrats on releasing this here album. I will be having a good listen later & look forward to hearing your reworked versions. Well done sir.
Congrats on the release, well done.
Good effort. It's no small thing to finish (anything). Well done.
Many thanks fellers !
I've released a fair amount of stuff over time, so I'm kind of orientated towards that, but it's still a fair bit of work with the mastering / sorting out etc.
I've added a downloadable track from the album up on my Soundcloud page. For better or worse, I've decided to delete all the work-in-progress tracks from the album (as they are all out of date and my account was maxing out time-wise), so older SOTMC thread links will now be dead.
Nice stuff! May I ask what SOTMC is?
The first rule of Song of the Month Club is not to.....
...Mmmm. I'd say miss submitting your SOTMC entry Our gaffer runs a tight ship!
It's a beautiful place where the sun always shines.
There's still nine days. Not a child in the house is washed. Not a note of new music has been written. AND I have to go to Toronto on Monday. Somewhat fearful. What is the national music of Canada? Maybe I'll get inspired...
I do feel for you! Ah, the kidlets will be fine.......washing is overrated. The last time I looked I'm sure I read that the national music of Canada is Alanis Morissette. Hopefully your somewhat fearful thing....isn't!
Where's my manners! If you need any help with drums to lessen the load...give me a tinkle.
Mind, after listening to Clancy, no Marcy.......Darcy, got it.....on Richards recent track, she can out paradiddle me a breeze! Bitch!!
@Igneous1 apologies for the slight detour above on your launch day.
The first thing that caressed my ears was your excellent production. It's listening proof that you've worked hard on the knob twiddling in the mix & mastering lounge.
Ah good old "Port Royale" to kick things off. Feels like there's more space been injected in it. Indeed, in all the songs I've previously heard from your good self. Good to hear that Jazz/Funk/Oriental splash again.
"Fluid Beef" is (I think) new to me. Like the melody & especially the bongo percussion elements. Very cool & my new personal favourite.
"Object" Best intro that forces you to listen on & enjoy. Building up of intensity adds dynamics & edge.
"Plastic Number" this track brings to the fore your skill of placing the beat in some pleasantly unexpected places, more so in the first half. Think I've commented about this in SOTMC before. Speedy section at 1.11 was urgent, controlled mania. Right up my street...(minus the controlled)
"Pedro Delux" laid back groove with your juddery bits juddering in all the right places. Every album I own has one track that I would play least. Just the way it is I suppose. It's not that I don't like it, it's because I prefer the others.
"Constant Curve" enjoyed the intro panning effects. Nice bass break at 1.00 & the acoustic snare beats 1.27 & 1.29 that supplement the main rhythm.
"Chefs omelette". Another effective lively melody that punctuate those "claps." You don't saturate the track with them merely drip feed them in at the right times.
"Wildcat." Thumping bass drum....yum. Don't ask me why but it reminded me of Level 42 particulary at the beginning & at 1.32. Those "Woah's" add a tinge of vocal. Again...yum.
"Catalan Box". Deep felt (in the guts deep) bass at .29 & .39 & a cool drum drop at .55. Then, of course, that clever beat change thang you do so well. Hope you took the patent out on that sir!
My inks running low so will finish by reiterating what a professional job you've done in all aspects of "the craft" & you should be popping those corks to celebrate 12 months of creating & finishing your album. Should be very proud.
@Bluepunk
Many thanks for your in-depth review, it is muchly appreciated ! I ended up mastering this one on the desktop as I am still more comfortable with things there, regarding moving files around etc.
Now up on iTunes, if anyone cares to peruse:

Really enjoying the album, it's got a nice bit of vaporwave vibe which is my pyjama-jams! Love the angular rhythms, great stuff!
