Voice Synth - Huge Update (4.22.16)

Have NOT had time to play with it. Took long enough just to read through the book-like update notes (TOO BIG TO EVEN SNIP FOR YOUR BROWSING PLEASURE!!), but I liked this puppy from way back and had given up on it getting modernized. Looks like I was wrong.

Yeah, I though this one was dead. I see they've finally abandoned Audibous (again). Hopefully the IAA works well. It's a good app.

  • Ya, it is a long list. I like the redesign.

Quickest of tries via AS and it works on the money....lots of fiddling about to be done here....suspect it may overshadow my little friend Voice Bot somewhat...

Holy spit balls. That's like a new app! One of my favorites for a long long time.

Old tune I made with everything other than the drums and muted guitar bit processed via or generated by Voice Synth:

  • Always held off cuz I thought it abandoned, excited by this now though.

  • edited April 2016

    Very impressive (update).
    @syrupcore, hoping for an encore (;
    Thanks.

  • love the arpeggiator. that's sweet

If you don't remember my favorite kind of noodles I'm going to have to believe you're a facsimilie of the real thing...

  • No worries ...
    Heart you too @kaikoo2

  • Can only imagine some folks who haven't played with this previously just found themselves their weekend's entertainment...

I think that kaikoo was actually the beta, but we've skipped to v2 already :)

Wow, I've not seen this synth before. But since I dangerously have appstore credit, then the inevitable synth purchasing cycle rolls on. Sounds really good. when I tried the free version it feels a bit like starting globalthermonuclearwar (WOPR) ;) Which is a good feeling ironically!

Haven't looked at the new version yet and am, of course, presuming they've taken it forward, but it was always one of those 'damn that one was so close, shame they let it go...'

It has a very strong sound. Having a lot of fun playing Shoom through it in AUM via a Korg volca bass midi out mod Thanks for the nod. :)

Jeez. I mention something about getting a rickshaw and you sent me a text from the moon with a picture of your rocket. Very impressive. Make good things.

In my postcard from the moon I would say it seems very stable from the jam I had with it last night. I guess the benefit of not being v1.0. A shame though it doesn't appear to have midi learn or any cc control yet...maybe something they will add one day. Also the arp, whilst being great fun to play with doesn't sync with the IAA host, although it says it does in the app.

Yes very cool track, definitely whet my appetite for it sonically :)

    @Carnbot,

I dunno, might use 3rd party arp? StepPolyArp? Maybe Mersenne arp or DRC arp or Nave arp into it to have some fun? Very dance track oriented app. Might be very good to sample to iSpark, lots of selection for retuning

This would be a great opening tune for Portlandia (the TV show). It's quirky and fun. Loved it, syrupcore!

I had taken Voice Synth off my iPad. Guess it's time to reload this app.

Has a lot of potential for sound design too this app. I'm finding it most interesting so far as a live IAA effect for other apps which you can then play.

  • Don't have this one and eleven quid is a bit more than my ' take a punt ' spend limit lol will have to check some videos to see if they tempt me ;)) no Audiobus isn't an issue for me as I use aum for everything now anyway

  • Nice track @Syrupcore I like stuff that is quirky yet listenable and can be appreciated by the general public.

As for the voice synth. I'm not a fan of the sounds it makes when opening the app or choosing presets. Can this be disabled? Also how is the midi in practice? I'm mostly interested in having a keyboard controller to control the carrier synth.

  • It also seems like one needs to purchase the whole app rather than modules as the features are a bit scattered and there's always something missing when buying just one.

The 'in your face' marketing approach does remind me a bit of IK Multimedia.

Half three in Austin and a tickly throat/cough drove me from my bed to keep from waking Mrs. Goodyear (or so I thought) when in fact my karmic purpose was obviously to provide you with this helpful illustration (be on the lookout for arrows intelligently marked '1' and '2)':

Pressing '1' should bring you to where '2' is revealed and pressing that should get rid of the not-good sound at start-up etc.

My work here is done. Wish the FA Cup semi-final was on earlier.

  • Oops, the new version requires iOS 9.2 and above. I'm still on 8.4.2 (iPad Mini 2) and still reluctant to update....maybe it's time to think this over a little...

  • @JohnnyGoodyear , oh my teacher teaches now.. Hehe

    On Animoog, very animoogy!

@supadom , oh master, can not imagine you on it! Your recent Samplr Loopy show is wonderful.
