TF7 horribly distorted after switching from StudioConnect to iConnectAudio???

I just made the switch from a Griffin StudioConnect to an iConnectAudio4+, and everything is running smoothly... EXCEPT for the TF7 app. For some reason, no matter what my audio settings are, the TF7 app's output is horribly distorted, to the point where every TF7 patch sounds more or less the same whether it's a soft pad or a percussive bass.

I have tried changing the audio quality in TF7, and that made no difference. I tried changing the iConnectAudio4+'s sample rates and bit depths, and that made no difference. For reference, I am connecting an iPad Air 2 to the ICA4+ via Lightning to 30-pin cable, and also have a MacBook Pro connected to the ICA4+'s other USB port, which I am using to control the ICA4+'s audio mixer.

Every other app I have tried (iM1, Sound Canvas, KQ Mini Synth, SunVox) works fine with this new interface. But for some reason TF7 is completely unusable.

What might be the problem here? A problem with the TF7 app itself, or some interaction between the iPad/iCA4+/MacBook?

  • Well, I ended up going to the manufacturer's Facebook page (Tenacious Frog) and sent them a message asking them. After doing some testing, we determined that the terrible distortion occurred only at sample rates other than 44.1 kHz and 88.2 kHz, regardless of bit depth. He said that they would work on resolving that issue in the next release, and encouraged me to request a refund through the app store.

That's customer service! I'll probably just end up keeping it, because it's not really a big deal to me to work at 44.1 kHz rather than 48 kHz.

  • Thanks for letting us know @dtaki .
