My Story Told

As requested, what happened with apple is they permanently disabled my apple id with no refund at all, i went the highest i could go and i was basically told that i my only choice was to create a new id and to re-purchases all of my apps which would be estimated at about $600...I just got back in to town and saw that my post about this was closed, that is why I'm creating this one. I believe i was screwed and i have lost everything that I worked for because all the apps I had were bought from my savings account which I spent everything on, so now i have to start saving again....my feelings are hurt that I even promoted apple and then they do this to me. The least they could of given me my money i spent, its not like we are talking 20-30 bucks, we are talking about a much larger number. I just cant believe they screwed me like this and now they will get double money from me because i really do need those apps for my projects

  • The question you should answer is what reason did Apple give you for disabling your ID? As bad as Apple is at times, Apple doesn't disable IDs without reason. Did they accuse you of fraud? Did they believe your account has been compromised? To be clear, I'm not asking what you think you did, but what THEY think you did.
You haven't made that clear and until you do, very few are going to be supportive of your cause.

  • No all they said the reason was is that I asked for too many refunds for apps purchased

  • I've never heard of such a thing. I did find this via Google. Did they warn you or anything?

  • you should totally blog about this.

  • Why do I get the feeling that there is something missing in this story?

Sounds that way to me also

  • dudes you can doubt me all you want, but I have stated the truth, I'm not a dishonest person. I have no reason to lie. Lets see you buy all the apps you wanted that cost hundred of dollars and then you make a post about it and then you find a couple guys implying that you are withholding information...what a bunch of crap! it is what it is all my crap is gone and you don't believe me...how classy!> @robertreynolds said:

No they did not give3 me warning that was part of it....I just tried to login one day and got a warning saying my ID had been disabled, so I called itunes, that representative transferred me to a senior advisor and she told me that I have too many refunds and she mentioned a warning which I never received. She said the only solution was to create a new ID and I asked for a refund or have my apps transferred to my new ID and she said that was not possible. So I asked for her supervisor and she said there was no one else. I ended up calling back 2 more times with the same result, so for those 2 guys that questioned my story, i sure hope you enjoy your apps that you do not have to replace.

I will be facebook it this evening, if any of you would like to see the post, especially to those 2 guys who think i'm leaving out part of the story

  • Man I'm sorry this happened to you. I wish you the best of luck in replacing your apps. If it were me though, I'd probably give Apple the middle finger and just move on.

If me, I will lawsuit the Apple for deprive my right to use my existing apps! So to you! However, those Apple representatives I contacted sound more logical to refuse my refund if my limit is overly done on refunds counts. Ya, I only do refund for apps not updating functions as expected to do. Probably 15 apps till now! Apple said I am a valuable customer! LOL!

I recommending you recovering your rights unless......?

  • Go to an Apple store if you can.

If it's true that you never received the warning, then you have a legal case. Search the internet for help on small claims procedures.

Coming here to ask people to help bail you out is somewhat shady.

  • Ya man when I lost all my apps...I do see all your points, its just when it happened i just lost my freaking mind. For me my music is everything Iam, music is my soulmate, its who iam....I just lost my mind zo I was like omg what am i supposed to do now. There are a few developers who believed in me and to see them was breathtaking and because they did that I will buy everything they have out and what they have in the future, a developer that takes care of their customers, a developer with morals and values, that I will always support.

  • Should’ve started with Sun Vox.

(…which by the way is available on Android, try that as your new platform).

  • Man I'm still going to stick with apple, the apps on my ipad are light years of everyone else. I know when I see a great thing, I have just learned a very valuable lesson

I'm pretty sure Apple cannot remove your access to purchased products without refunding those purchases first . If they have an issue with too many refunds , ask them to setup a new account for you containing just the apps you haven't had refunds for or transfer them to your current account . Usually though they would just remove your access to the store , but not to your purchases .

  • All the apps which you weren't refunded for you'll have the invoice/receipts which you can take to Apple and rightfully demand to have access to the apps.
I sympathise if true but it does seem strange how you have given up on that and are spending more time writing to developers. How many refunds did you ask for and get?

He is s not asking for free stuff, he just wants the stuff back he paid for ...

Do not call apple, write to support and explain the situation, I am sure they will work something out. They can't denie access to stuff you already paid for ...
If this doesn't work out get a lawyer.

  • Hmmm. I would exhaust all avenues. Hook your iPad up to your computer and try downloading apps from there, login to the webpage for your Apple ID. Look through your email for their statement saying they are closing your account and why. Create PDFs of your statement history. Document it all and demand an explanation from Apple.

There must be something esque here, maybe someone else used your Apple ID to download your apps? Something is wrong.

Get to the bottom of it, document everything you can. It will help you when it comes to the crunch.

I would be creating threads on their official support pages, and if they really have fucked you for no reason? Well spread the word with thorough documentation, Reddit, Facebook, tech sites, apple podcasts. But have the facts to back up your claims.

Apple have always been good for me, but other companies have screwed me over in the past and it is very frustrating and often feels like your hitting a wall when no one believes you, but the burden of proof is on you. Get the proof, get your apps back.

    Good luck

  • Also talk to the right people, if your getting no where with who you are talking to with Apple, try other areas. Billing department would be a good start. Support tickets, email, phone, retail store. Someone must be able to find what really happened.
I find it hard to believe they took everything away from just changing your card, because I have also done this and they didn't ban me or take my apps, they did contact me though to check it was legit. I would guess the cards have a different country of origin or name and they closed the account on suspected fraud. They will reinstate it with sufficient proof.

Also be nice if you can, makes a world of difference to that person on the other end of the phone/email

  • There is good advice in this thread. It sounds like the issue that is causing skepticism here is that others have had similar issues and this has not been the result. It doesn't mean you're lying, it just means that people who don't know who you are may not believe or understand the story. I do hope you're able to resolve this.

  • Apple tend to back down once you mention your country's consumer law to them. They replaced my out-of-warranty iPhone when I did that, having originally washed their hands of responsibility. One mention of UK Consumer Law and they suddenly had people calling me up, desperate to help as soon as possible.

    This.

If the reason is just one of over claim for refund as you state, I believe that you will be able to get it sorted legally.

I will state the reason I am dubious is your swift turn to asking others for financial help and not help with sorting things with Apple.

  • Not to sound rude, but maybe the solution is simple and you are not communicating the issues and events clearly to the people you are speaking to. If lots of folks here don't really understand it, perhaps Apple doesn't either

  • This sucks, I feel for ya. But try calling and NOT explaining the whole story. Focus on the main issue and simply say "I no longer have access to 600 dollars worth of apps I paid for and have not received a refund. I would like either of those." Let them do the homework

This is complicated stuff don't do this via phone call.

Yep . Keep a record of all email correspondence , and when Im having an issue with support I like to include the whole history in each email just to show how much effort its taking to get a response .

I had an issue with a refund and they absolutely refused to give me my money back . I kept on , and on , and on to their support and they relented .

  • It makes no sense for them to close his account because he's asked for refunds. If that's been the case and he can prove it then he needs to sue Apple and not ask for donations. Sorry but this is incredibly fishy and reeks of a scam.

  • When you purchase an app of any kind from the App Store. You are issued a email, as a form of receipt & payment. I keep mine in a separate Apple folder. It's a proof of purchase, just like when you buy clothes, etc. You must have this, surely? If you haven't, then you haven't got much of a leg to stand on really. If you do have them, send it to them, it will have proof of everything on your account.
