Storage full what to do

The last two years I had an iPad with 64 GB and I was fine with that a few weeks ago my iPad broke and as I bought it from eBay I had no guarantee so now I was only able to afford an iPad with 32 GB and I have loaded all my music apps but now my storage is almost full I don't know what to do because all these apps are really great I have no shitty ones on my iPad
What do you do when your storage is full ? are there any way is to put some of the apps somewhere else ?can you put some apps on a special external hard disc that is suitable for the iPad ?
Would be happy for some tips
Greetings Janis

  • As a starting point you can find out what's using the most storage in your settings...

    Settings>general>storage and iCloud usage>Manage storage

There may be apps taking up more space than they're worth or others holding more audio files than you thought which can take up lots of storage. I like to offload old/completed audio out of AudioShare and BM2 to Dropbox which works with both of those.

I think you get around 5GB free storage with Dropbox, if you haven't signed up yet this referral link will get us each a bit more space https://db.tt/MPavfZo6

Pretty sure you can't run apps off of external storage.

Mods, if referral links aren't cool go ahead and remove that link ^

  • Thanks I already know dropbox and all my music I made is stored there or on SoundCloud

  • Soundcloud isn't a great storage option because they compress your music and also seem to be in a precarious financial position.

  • If you filled 32GB with apps alone, my suggestion is to evaluate those apps and delete 85% of them. If you want/need one or more of them again you can always grab it from the App Store.

  • I would not run an iPad without at least 5gb storage free (preferably 10gb). Get too close to it being full and problems occur.

Sad fact is iOS steals storage all the time for tasks it does and often does not give it back!

Don't use the video download trick to free up space though, as it can cause a major problem, as I found out recently. I've had to reload my iPad from scratch :(

  • Anyone notice that files stored in Audioshare don't get counted in the storage settings? Why is this. Not really a huge problem cuz I alwaya keep tabs on my Audioshare sample build-up, but somewhat mysterious, no?

Also does anyone have an issue with Samplr remaining bulky with 'ghost samples' even after you delete them within the app?

The woes of the 32gb ipad lifestyle...

On a 32 gab air one and have no problems with under three gigs of storage even. Everything still running smooth.
