Ifretless base midi out

When recording midi into cubasis(ect),the internal bass sound is muted...(volume automatically switches to zero)
I can play the ifretless base from the cubasis keyboard(cubasis midi out setting)or I can select a cubasis base sound and hear that while using the ifretless ui.
But,at present,it is not possible to record midi notes out while hearing the ifretless internal bass sound!!...(am I wrong?)

Please Blue Mango, can you update so that user can adjust ifretless volume when midi out is selected?

  • We have this on the roadmap but haven't implemented it yet. We will look into it.

  • Thank you Sirhans.

  • @Commonstookie I've wasted time on this as well (if the background audio button exists in the interface, shouldn't the functionality allready have been implemented?) But I've had decent results using ifretless guitar's midi out to record midi tracks into Beatmaker 2 with the sound source (seperate midi channel) set to ifretless bass. It's a work around that might help with Cubasis.

    @Symmetry,thanks for the work around.

I agree...am sure a solution is on the way from Blue Mango.

    @BlueMango,is ifretless safe??

  • Should be, it's velocity sensing (accelerometer), not area sensing.

  • @commonstookie: @PaulB is correct. iFretless measures velocity by a different method so it will not be affected by Apple's decision to close down apps that use touch area sensing.

We have implemented the feature that allows ifretless to play it's own sound together with MIDI output at the same time. It should be available by the end of the month when we release updates for both apps.

There will also be a third iFretless app coming out at about the same time.

  • @Blue_Mangoo, ifretless Cello? please! :)

  • Thank you very much.

iFretless Strings would indeed be a natural development, and iFretless Brass would also be interesting.

@Bootsy I had reasonable success with Thumbjam's cello controlled by iFretless Bass.

  • @PaulB. That sounds really nice! What piano is that? Also beautiful. Unfortunately I can get thumbjam to show up in ifretless, I'm not sure why. Most others show up and work fine

  • edited July 2013

The piano is the one in Chordbot. Only the cello part was me playing.

I just start Thumbjam, then iFretless. In iFretless, scroll down to the MIDI settings in the control panel and select Thumbjam in the MIDI Destination selection box. Output Channel can be left as Omni if no other MIDI apps are active.

  • Any idea why I can't get thumbjam to work in ifretless? I have bkg on and just about every midi setting on.

  • These are my settings which are working.

  • Thanks, PaulB. Turns out I had the. Hide own ports enabled in TJ so it wouldn't show up in ifretless. All is good now. Thanks again.

  • No problem. Enjoy. :)

  • Totally wonderful - very expressive!

  • Thanks PaulB. It's a shame that virtual MIDI has to be so complex.

@Bootsy iFretless midi + the thumbJam cello is the best way to get Cello in iFretless, for now.

I would love to make an orchestral strings iFretless app in the future. We still haven't found musicians to record the samples yet.

The upcoming iFretless app will be iFretless Sax (Including Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bari, Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, and a Synth sound).

  • Yes!! I love sax for some reason...can't wait when is this again?

  • Wow. That's great news. Yes, when is that gonna happen?

  • @Blue_Mangoo that sounds very cool :)

  • @JMSextion, @mgmg4871

We are planning for release at the end of July. It has some cool new stuff coming that the previous apps didn't have.

  • Looking forward to it!

  • Thanks @Blue_Mangoo! That combo of TJ cello and ifretless is really good! Can't wait for the sax!

  • Thanks @Blue_Mangoo. Can't wait.

  • The TJ cello itself is probably worth the full price of that app - can't get enough of it!
