iRig MIDI2 vs. USB Midi

Questions on iPad connection: iRig midi2 vs. USB midi...
I have a couple of hardware midi controllers and sequencers. My normal hookup is with USB cables going into unpowered USB splitter.

Is there any "difference" between iRig midi2 and a USB cable serving as a midi connection going into iPad via CCK?
Same or an advantage or difference? What does iRig do that cable doesn't?
Thanks

To be honest with a cck and a powered hub even cheap midi interfaces like the m-audio midi sport work. So far I've used a midi sport X1, an irigmidi1(on a second iPad) and the midi ports on a remote zero Sl at the same time and I don't really notice much difference in terms of latency. Assuming the cable is class compliant and has some sort of interface built in it should work.

wow. i need to read more slowly. disregard what i said earlier. I'm assuming all the midi data is over usb midi ? if so there really isnt any advantage to the irig. the irig and most midi interfaces main purpose is to connect to devices that dont have usb midi. other than that there isnt any advantage whatsoever. midi is midi. that being said you might get a "too much power" error over a cck if you connect too many devices. if for some reason you get this error a powered hub will fix your problem.
