Picked up Synth-Q on sale until May 5th for $2.99
I'm not really a synth person... and I don't really need any more apps at the moment... other than 2-3 I'm still pining for
But I've been grabbing some with midi notes out, etc. for using in SunVox, Xynthesizr, Arpist, etc.
Snapped up Synth-Q on sale until May 5th for 40% off. REALLY impressed with this one. I was only buying for some extra cool synth sounds to use in other apps, but this is much deeper than I'd expected. And it also has a great vocoder built-in too.
I haven't read Synth-Q mentioned that often, so I was quite pleasantly surprised with my purchase.
Thought I'd pass it on.

Synth-Q is an impressive synth, and has an ample number of LFOs available, each with some interesting beat divisions. You can’t go as far as to modulate “anything with anything”, but what it can do is fairly comprehensive.
Honestly, I was just expecting maybe some extra cool sounds to use in other apps or to mix with other stuff. Really impressed with how much you get with this app AND the interface. Impressed.
A fine synth - rich in individuality & originality, does things that no others ( afaik ) can !
The three-tiered keyboard makes me play more octave-style stuff than I normally would, so I like that it encourages me to get outside my "usual" bag of tricks. Plus, it sounds great.
Just picked it up. First reaction?
THAT KEYBOARD IS FRIGGIN' OWWSOME! The way you can drag the pads on the two axis to modulate! Sweet.
Gonna have some fun with this one I can tell.
The new vocoder is kinda sweet too... had to ask the dev how it worked.. you load it into an FX slot, then feed it that way. I'm sure you and others here already knew that... but I didn't as it wasn't in the docs.
Very cool how you can cable up various modules to each other for even more variety.
If you're not connected by IAA or Audiobus, the vocoder uses the iPad mic by default. Just make sure you're wearing headphones
Thanks for the great feedback everyone!
I wasn't really that clear on exactly how a vocoder worked, but now that I've been playing with it a bit, very cool!
Instead of voice I've been looping recorded samples or generative apps as the source in AUM, then playing them through synthQ's vocoder. Some presets work much better than others obviously.
Also, I saw that you at one point had a link to some extra presets that could be imported in, but the link is no longer good. Are those still available somewhere? Or, did they simply get added with the last update?
Today is 4th and the app came back to regular price.
really? thats weird, I thought I had set the sale to end on the 5th. I'll check it out.
I really like using a sampler in ableton on OS X and sending the audio through studiomux directly to synthQ. It works pretty well I find.
all synthQ presets (and future packs) will be uploaded here for now — as I mentioned in other posts I'm reworking the preset system so sounds can be more easily shared between all SQ users!

Oh cool. Great idea. Thx!
I must have a session programming SynthQ again. Lost all my presets recently (no fault of SynthQ).
I'm planning on implementing iCloud for the preset system for exactly that situation.
Would be good for sharing. I've shared quite a few presets on here for Shoom and Wavemapper. Would love to share some for SynthQ....once I've made them again
You can always export your presets to iTunes file sharing! Or by using e-mail!
But yeah, I'd love to have a system where you can see presets posted by other users from within the app.
iTunes file sharing is a no go for us iPad only guys and gals, but yeah I should have emailed them to myself - my bad
Thanks for putting it on sale again. When purchased, I asked for no claiming for refund in the next 14 days.
I don't know if this is for getting a refund last week for an educational app that didn't work as expected. Weird.
The presets are awesone and the sound is great. I'll check it out deeply this weekend.
