Gotta midi keyboard
So....I got a midi keyboard to connect to my ipad. I was pretty excited about getting it. And, still digging it. But..........I think, I much prefer to play the keys on the ipad screen its self. I'm not talking the virtual midi controllers....Sound Prisim's, Thumbjam, MinorThirds, GeoShred/synth and so on. Those are all such great ways to play keys. Especially, being a guitar player, they do make me sound pretty good to ok.......
I don't know if it is because for the last 4 or 5 years playing the keys on my ipod and ipad screen has me so used to or partial to this rather than actual in the flesh keys? Or, because I've never played piano or keys other than just messin with em.
Still, I like to have the midi keyboard in my arsenal, and.....my wife knows how to Piano! She was not to keen on playing keys on my ipad screen for a few of my songs, but....now that I have actual thingies for her to press, I think it'll be game on!
So, how bout you? How do you key it up in ios land? What do you prefer?

I'm with you on that, would love a large touch screen keyboard
I use Soundprisms a lot for chords. For melodies, I've recently become quite happy with Musix Pro isomorphic layout. It's really great being able to transform a phrase by playing the same shape anywhere on the layout. I think my melodies are getting a little better as a result (I was happy with them before).
Horses for courses I think, if you want to get real expression from a piano sound then velocity is really important, much easier to control using real keys rather than on screen (depending on the quality of your keys of course).
Then there's the Animoog keyboard, really expressive and almost impossible to do on real keys. As a guitarist you would really appreciate this one as what you do with your fingers after the sound starts has so much influence on the sound, unlike a regular keyboard.
Each has their own unique quality and their own benefits/drawbacks depending on what you want to achieve at the time.
