Mother's Day Gift
Mrs Goodyear, who I love very deeply (despite concerns to the contrary) pulled a fast one this Mother’s Day morning by trumping my gift of a cook book and two cards with an iPad Pro, keyboard, pen etc. I am suitably gobsmacked and grateful.
This note is by way of a quick request to brothers and sisters who have had one of these beasts for awhile already: Yes, I will certainly go back and read the threads, but any advice, thoughts, favorite things you’re all over about the big boy...?

You lucky mother...
Oh shit...i forgot to get...hey wtf? I thought it was in March?
Not in these here United States of Texas
Yum? The buffalo.
What a nice gift! I know I'm loving mine too, all except taking her to bed. The iPad, I mean. You'll see what I mean soon. But usage, speed, capacity, being able to see the tiny knobs and bits in Auria Pro or Egoist has been a pleasure.
I really like the $6 Amazon Basics stylus, maybe better than the $99 Apple Pencil. No electronics, no charging. Just works and feels somehow "safer" on the glass than the hard plastic point of the AP. Also, again except for lounging in bed with it, I love he Logitech Create keyboard / cover. so nice having a keyboard sometimes for emails and such, and I love using its home and power keys vs their analog counterpart on the IPP. But again congrats and hope you love it as much as I dig mine.
Oh, another huge plus with this is the seemingly limitless number of FF plugs I can run now without freezing tracks. Only wish there was a way to maximize some of the windows of the AP plugins like Overloud for ex.
Oh my bad, hows Model 15 looking this American Mothersday?
An iPad Pro!!! I'm gonna make sure my loved ones read this thread. I don't need more socks!!!
Uh oh. What are you gonna have to get her on Father's Day??
After a couple of hours of feeling pleased with myself this thought did suddenly slide across the screen of my weasel mind.....however, just along behind it came the certainty that Mrs. Goodyear already knows what I will be getting her. She is Sun Tzu....
Wow...have fun with it. What a beautiful thing to do.
Is that Tim Minchin narrating?
Clearly she has outflanked you here.
Not certain whether I'm supposed to be flattered or get all puffed up and grumpy (pretty much par for the course )
Thanks for your response. Yes. FF plugs. Not a small matter. At least 80 per cent of my excitement is to do with the power rather than the size (nurse).
Went ahead and bought an Amazon stylus as an extra. Thanks for the tip. I have had no time to actually play with the thing yet, but just opening an app randomly (in this case Guitarism) it's obvious to me that there's a whole bunch of things that are going to be better/easier on the bigger screen, irrespective of whether they been 'optimized' yet etc. Doesn't change the ears, but the eyes are ever greedy of course....
@JohnnyGoodyear Definitely on the side of flattery! If I had asked if it was Roy Chubby Brown then you could of exercised getting your grumpy feathers ruffled up.
I hate to say it (and I'm going to try hard to confine these sorts of remarks to this thread, because who the hell wants to hear them otherwise etc), but I just opened Thesys for the first time since I bought it, snorted loudly, and deleted it because of its impossible they're-taking-the-piss fiddleyness. Looks completely usable. In related news, ReBirth is positively easypeasy to play with (just a shame that it's not really my thing...)
I hate it when an app is completely usable.
I hate it when it isn't Which in this case it wasn't (for me), but not, you know, it is
Dude gets some high falutin big iPad and starts talking in circles to confuse us commoners!
Wow, very nice! Mrs. Goodyear sounds like a good lady. She sounded like that before the gift but it's cool that she did that, when you least expected it. That's when a gift really is a gift. I hope it serves you well!
Congrats Johnny, your wife is a doll to do that for you. My wife gave me my Air 2 that started me on this iOS music road last year for Valentine's, which suprised and touched me deeply as well, but going in Valentine's is for both party's to give & receive.
An awesome gift for you on Mom's Day is really sweet and unselfish. Or she may be a master of subterfuge and psychological warfare spun into action after hearing the final mix of 'The State of The Play For Today'...
Enjoy it brother.
I'll try to speak Texan: Yer one lucky sombitch!
How to properly translate that sentence in formal English? My Bebot. LOL
Nice one Johnny. I wonder, now Mrs Goodyear got a big one(oh, er misses). Maybe it will be difficult to go back to the small screen?
We don't go back. We expect 42 inch iPad HD coming.
And we remain the same 10 hrs battery service
I still haven't it played with it (missus) because of the set up/copying etc (and real life godammit), but the merest of fiddling already makes my beloved Air1 look/feel like a paperback rather than a coffee table hardback. Before I fully descended into music on the iPad I did spend a year or so developing my early Appolia with art/graphics apps and I fear somewhat that a return to them is now on the cards. Scribble-of-the-month-club perhaps....as ever, time is the enemy.
Johnny, maybe we should have that iOS music picnic soon? It would be a good opportunity to show off this new beast.
Erm. Yes. Ahem. Right. Sounds good. Of course. Yes.
I had a dream that someone gave me $4500 but i couldnt find a store that sold ipad pros. i also dreamt of alternate reality versions of Sector because my teeth are rotting out of my skull and sleep is only half-sleep, etc etc
Don't talk to me about teeth , I'm just back from my weekly visit to the dentist .... wish that had been a dream lol
