Modstep: Tutorial setting on automation w. IAA?
I want to use all these MOD features. Problem is, for the minimum time investment I have made into the app, I can't seem to get the automation rockin'
Is there one available?
One in which another app is set up with mod/automation controls from MOD STEP?
Thanks if you know a tutorial or can explain it.

Well, open isem on a modstep track by tapping on 'browser'. Selecting it from the list and dragging it sidewise to the drop area. Arm it. Tap IO, select midi out = isem. Tap 'browser' again (to let the menu vanish).
Tickle 'piano roll', enter some notes, tap the circle 'mods' and memorize the area beneath the grid for later (now it's empty).
Tap the 'resistor' icon, find the 'plus', and there select 'mod wheel' or enter some value you know from isem to manipulate. Drag the 'mod wheel' entry sideways to the left in the highlighted rectangle. For fun drag 'pitch wheel' to the slot below.
Return to 'piano roll', select the tile labelled 'mod wheel' or 'pitch wheel' and paint a curve in the area you recall. Get back to main view.
Tip on the clip to start it, @RustiK;
If you enable 'record' (red dot), you can xy as much as you like in the ' .... ' step sequencer window. Cheers.
that is the modstep story, but in AUM you have to do some work to route the cc to the AUs
in AUM open the MIDI CTRL
then select MIDI SOURCES and choose where the cc is coming from. this is the MIDI destination you chose for the track. i suggest sending cc to AUM. then go back.
now choose the midi channel the cc is coming in on
now you can see isem and all of its cc parameters
find the param you want to enable, turn it on, and assign it to the same cc # that your modstep template is sending on eg vcf freq is 17, master volume is 0
Yeah, bringing back Aum into the equation, @wellingtonCres - for iaa would it be fitting to select modstep for midi source?
what is required is that the AUM MIDI SOURCE is set to the same source and channel as the modstep track is set to output to, via the track IO panel
After having fiddled with modstep and model 15 for an hour with a meagre result I had a refreshing 30 minutes on Gadget with almost the whole track finished.
Just saying.
Yes modstep is horribly unstable
Try using the apps in AUM sequenced from modstep it's a little more stable
I am basically back to using the iPad almost entirely as a synth to sequence externally now with the exceptions of patterning and fugue machine
I guess I shall give you a tutorial on how to properly record a midi cc pattens from 3rd party app to Modstep,
so you guys can have a way to standardize the modulation speed and shapes. Stay tune to a new Tips and Tricks thread.
Thank you
