Big bump, +1, etc. for this! SilQ is a bargain at the regular price and a flat-out STEAL at $4 US. Excellent for sculpting the "perfect" guitar tone, and I think it also comes in handy for tweaking synth patches and presets.
If you think you might ever, possibly want dedicated EQ in your signal chain, this is a terrific option. I like how easy it is to isolate and preview Low, Low-Mid, Hi-Mid, and Hi bands as needed. Great for "zeroing in" on specific slices of your sonic pie
BTW, @tonappas, I'd love to see a mix dial or slider at some point - great for backing off a bit when you've gone too far in the right direction! Currently, I have to record two tracks and dial in the EQ'd version to taste in my DAW. A mix control would be a great timesaver for me
+1 slider, one finger
+1 just generally. Easy to use, quick to use, and makes a difference
Well, all these comments sold me - just grabbed it. Thanks to all, and especially to the generous dev for the sale! Can't wait to try it tonite.
Great app. Buy, buy, buy.
I did
Cool! Looking forward to hearing discrete bands of frequency deftly manipulated in your next tune!
Hey, I've already got Final Touch for EQ, mastering, etc. I barely know how to use what it's capable of, but have definitely been able to improve, fix, and shape sound with it to my satisfaction, so far.
Still intrigued by this app though. Other than being able to unlink the EQ from each side, and a sweet looking interface... are there other significant advantages of this app over Final Touch, or in addition to? Anyone have both? And if so, would it be mostly redundant to have this one too, or a good pairing?
I would think that's enough EQ. This looks fine. Haven't heard it yet. It lacks the magic proprietary quantum engine thing that says HERE'S WHAT'S MAKING YOUR MIX SOUND LIKE ASS. But you can quickly isolate any frequency band with one touch, so what am I complaining about??
In the dev's promo video, EQ'ing is sort of being "played"... which would be sort of difficult I think in Final Touch. It's got a lot more features for sure, but for just the EQ'ing part, this one looks easier to control. I could be wrong about that. I'm going to mess around with Final Touch tonight and see if I really need this one. Seems like a very good app and a killer price. Just need to make sure I'll actually make use of it.
Oh, that's very nice. I wonder if the Record function is a single pass or is more like automation? But very cool. Dude, it's $4.
@skiphunt - 4 bucks for a dual 32 band EQ. And it's a breeze to use. I consider it an essential for the audio toolbox, FWIW.
Using Final Touch for general EQ seems like a rather CPU-heavy EQ solution. Sometimes a nice, clean, light and specialized app is the way to go. It's likely you would find a good use for SilQ somewhere in your creative process
@ExAsperis99 @eustressor no issue with the price... but I don't buy apps I don't need even if they're a dollar, or even bother downloading free stuff I don't need. I'm already to the point where I'm deleting stuff to clear space.
But you're right about the CPU heavy stuff. Once I've got a few things loaded Final Touch tends to drag it down noticeably. I've learned to only use it on the "final". It'd be nice to have a lightweight EQ to play with and not have to worry about glitchy performance. Gonna grab it. Sold.
Ok. Bought this. Did a quick test comparing to Final Touch. Nothing elaborate, just recorded myself talking with the onboard mic, bad acoustics, air-con noise, and a little high-freq hiss.
I first did a quick EQ in Final Touch (which also allows you to unlink L/R to & adjust independently) left everything linked. Did a quick EQ by ear until I liked the sound.
Then did the same starting from default zero'd out in SILQ, then also with everything shut down to -20db.
The result is that I was able to get to something that was an acceptable improvement much faster in Final Touch.
However, I then went back and tweaked each after A/Bing for a finer adjustment.
Then A/B'd the results of a second tweak of each again.
After another 15mins with each, I was ultimately able to sculpt out a noticeably better sound from SILQ than Final with Final Touch's EQ. I was able to get a nicer vibrancy and "live" quality to it with less mud.
Final Touch has a lot going for it in addition to EQ of course, but for straight EQ'ing... all those extra bands of control in SILQ seem to make a significant and appreciable difference... even to a non-pro-novice like myself.
Most often a EQ app or plugin has spectrum plot with on the graph.
This EQ app need a spectrum graph window if being click on for option selection.
Or, a quick 'horizontal finger sliding fuction' on 4 of each band level change on both L&R separately.
Plus, a slider right hand side window utility to work with apps. Other app (EQ) has spectrum plot, so that this app can help other apps's EQ tweaking!
So those are so much more powerful strategy than reducing prices strategy for surviving in the market.
And why doing this development is useful for users? Because this app has stereo band tweaking dynamics other EQ app can not do. It just need a lifting for speed and power. That is why I bought it without using it.
SilQ is a SliQ app!
...and it's smooth as Silq (as the name implies)
It lacks the magic proprietary quantum engine thing that says HERE'S WHAT'S MAKING YOUR MIX SOUND LIKE ASS.
That's the one feature I DON'T need, cause I already know it's a combo of my shitty playing and my inability to resist adding JUST ONE MORE TRACK...
Hi!
Thank you for kind words! Working on a new version which will include audio monitoring and some CPU-saving improvents (+some more). I like the one-hand-mix-fader suggestion - something to think about.
Still on sale BTW
Cheers
I grabbed it on-sale & digging it. In the music app blog he suggests one button to unlink/link everything at once in addition to individually. +1
Also, would like to see the host icon so I can more easily jump back to AUM, etc.
Wonder how this would work as an AU?
I picked it up too. Even though I have plenty of EQ options already, this looked like it might help out in some ways. (Plus @Flo26 is such a damn great guitar player I kinda had to listen to his opinion. )
I'm very pleased! It's amazingly easy to get right to the frequencies you want / need and find the sound you're looking for. Much easier than parametric EQs I've used. Being able to link / unlink each band for stereo EQ is a surprisingly cool thing too ... something I never even thought about exploring before.
I threw this onto a somewhat mediocre Model 15 patch I made and totally transformed the sound into something awesome in just a few minutes. I added it to a riff I've been tweaking in various hosts as I learn them, and quickly came up with the best result I've had so far.
I would definitely like to see at least an output level meter and the host icon. It's very easy to begin over driving the output, and one can only see and adjust that by switching back and forth between the host and the app.
Make it an AU and it'll be over the top!
Wow, thanks
Input & Output meters is already implemented for the next version/update. Same goes for switching back to the IAA host. The 'Link All' feature should be an easy task too. No release date yet, but hope to be done before the end of May/mid June.
Cheers
Hi all!
Just a reminder. Last day on sale
