Need little help with Gesturement & MIDI

The forum has again turned me on to another great app - Gesturement. Very cool indeed! But - have a little trouble having it control an IAA synth using MIDI.

To keep it simple, I started with Sunrizer playing a low, distinctive note. Set to Channe 1
Next I bring up Gesturement, and turn off the internal synth, and turn on MIDI,. Sunrizer is lister and checked. I close the editor, and tap a few notes but get a sound not at all like what I set up on Sunrizer!

I seems, possibly, Gesturment is having Sunriser play very high on its scale - not sure, and don't see any way to tell Gstmnt to "play lower"

Also it appears you can't mix & match MIDI and internal synth - it seems all instruments go to MIDI or internal - but the docs seem to say each instrument could be independent.

So are there any special settings to just get Gstmnt to play a MIDI device as it is set up?

  • @seachord yes, gestrument, nice one. In settings, on the instrument panel, next to the colored numbers, try changing the pitch to e.g. c2 or c1; it does mix & match, but the synth setting (volume) applies to all channels, thus it's pretty much either/or ...

  • There are synths (like Sunrizer, Magellan) that don't see Gestrument in their Midi-in-list (I don't know why (dev?). But others do and Gestrument can play it's own synth and via midi the same time. I tried Laplace and that works.

  • the gesturement instrument edit page allows you to set the min and max pitch, sunriser also has midi in transposition if i recall correctly
