  • I recently experimented with triggering GuitarCapo via MIDI in Modstep and it was a successful experiment, the up/down variation is nice.

  • Absolute steal at that price.

    vs. Guitarism?

I have guitarism. do i need(ie.is it much better) this?
edit:i think i know the answer now and will buy it.

    Pretty cool stuff,

Oh double edit: i'm playing with the free version and strumming in G and Dm has some strange sounds. is it the end of the sample? sounding like a tape recorder switched off? sound like noisy samples outside of that click/switch noise as well.
Think I prefer Guitarism for sound and UI feel. At a $1 I'm considering not buying it!!

For sure, there is so much meat to this app. A lot going on in it. A lot to explore and learn how to use. It's a good one. And for a buck.

Is Guitarism even still a thing? I mean it has the feel of abandon ware to me.

But what happened to the planned finger picking patterns in GuitarCapo

  • I'm a guitarist, and usually don't like many "guitar sims" in iOS, as they usually sound wrong.

I like and use Guitar Capo+. It is more than just a simple "strumming" app. And at $0.99, a steal. Also, for guitarists it is a neat MIDI controller.

  • @Seangarland
do you not find the samples to be noisy? i hear static and then like i said strumming through Dm or G ends with a switch on/off sound.
    You don't hear this?

@Redo1 I usually turn off the internal sounds and use GuitarCapo to trigger other guitar sounds on apps like SampleTank. Two other things I like:

While the app is strumming, you can actually play the chord chart. That gives you instant access to 15 chord pads available for each of the major keys, and you easily slide those pages to get 25 chord options without missing a beat. Quick key changes are easy. So you have quick access to 150 chords that you can play live. Changing to a flat or sharp is an extra button push though. I with that the developers would put all the keys on the left. Also it would help if they put the more commonly used chords on top. Now you have chords like C11, C13, C6/9 on the top, but you have to scroll down to get Cm or Cmaj7.

Also if you are triggering some heavy metal samples, you can get some interesting power chords by Karate chopping the virtual strings.

This app has cost as much as $4.99 and it was worth that--99 cents is a steal.

I almost bought this when it was more, but withheld because I'm not a guitar player... and have no aptitude for it either. Believe me, I've tried.

However, I went ahead and grabbed this on sale... mostly because I was curious about using it as a midi controller for other synths. WOW! had no idea what I was missing. Definitely worth full price as a midi controller alone, even if you aren't a guitar player. No brainer at .99 cents. :)

  • @tonappas Hey, is there a way to turn off the built-in guitar samples, and ONLY play what I've midi-connected to? I see there's a "play through" setting on the midi setting panel, but it doesn't appear to make any difference. The only way I've found so far is turning down the internal volume. Is that the only way? Or, am I missing something?

    Cool app! :)

  • Thank you all for kind words!

There is a mute button in the upper left corner (an speaker icon). This will turn off the internal sound.

In the near future there isn't planned to add custom picking patterns, but maybe at some point. There is 5 'fixed' patterns though.

    Cheers

In the full version (or unlocked with IAP) there is two extra guitars (without the strange sound). The basic samples are called 'Rusty Air'

I was one of the guys that bought GuitarCapo+ when it was on sale...

I have totally missed this piece of jewelry earlier!

I'm not a guitarplayer, although I love the sound of guitars in all flavours...

But, GuitarCapo+ is da shit to use together with other apps on the iPad!
Together with Korg Module as an MIDI-controller I can make magic fast chord progressions! Me like!

I have alot of other Chords apps, like Chordion, ChordPolyPad, NaviChord etc. Yeah, they are all supergood, but, with GuitarCapo+ I'll found a new dimension!

Norway, keep up the good work!

Thank you for that! Much appreciated! :)

  • apparently minor british celebrity David Cameron is also a fan of GuitarCapo, as featured on the soundtrack of his latest enigmatic and messageless PSA.
