Coral, my new song!

Again, posting in a separate topic to avoid breaching the SOTM topic's rules.

"Coral" is a word that has the very same meaning both in Portuguese and English (and possibly other langages - you tell me!) and was inspired by the coral reefs of Fernando de Noronha, an island in northeastern Brazil.

But coral also means choir in Portuguese, and this is one of my rare songs that I sing anything: this time, the entirety of the song's theme. No lyrics: just long vowels.

Hope you like it, and have a wonderful week!
Dimitri.

  • P.S.: made entirely in Auria Pro with Lyra and FabFilter Twin used for all drums, percussion and synth sounds. All the guitars, classical guitar, bass and vocals were recorded live. Mastered in a separate project using FF Pro Q, Pro MB and Pro L.

  • P.P.S.: in fact, it was FF one for the synth!

  • This is so good!! Great job. Inspires me to learn AP and FF plugins better. And, of course, to create some music to record in the first place!!!

  • Thank you so much, @scadet! All the best.

  • Man of the week!

  • Thank you very much, @kaikoo2! :D

  • @theconnactic - Off the beaten path and very cool, Dimitri! Keep the tunes coming, amigo!

  • Thank you very much indeed, @Kikoblu!

  • I am very fond of this northeastern Brazilian vibe, despite being born and living most of my life in Rio, in the southeastern portion of Brazil. The syncopated beat, the percussion, that goegeous lydian b7 scale...

  • Holy Baden Powell! Really great.
And then it goes into Os Mutantes land!
    Wow.

  • Thank you so much, @ExAsperis99! In fact, in a few words you cited a huge influence - listening to a live rendition of "Samba Triste" definitely brought me back to the nylon stringed guitar - and one of my fav bands (which had perhaps the greatest Brazilian guitar player of his time, Sergio Dias).

    All the best!

  • P.S.: for the distorted guitar tone, I used Overloud THM, but I built my own setup instead of using a factory preset. THM can offer really wonderful guitar tones (honestly, better than most external soft amp apps, and more stable with Auria than all of them), but the factory presets don't do it justice.
