Don't even need to use that with AU. Just allocate MIDI directly from that channels controls.
@OscarSouth Aha, I see, no sorry it doesn't map frequency linearly for midi cc. My reasoning being that it shifts from -5000 to 5000 hz, so basically you have to represent a scale of 10000 steps with a scale of 127 steps. I guess there is no really good solution here, but I think a non linear representation is the least bad one. A third option could be a setting for the user to set the lower and upper bound, something to think about for the future I guess..
However, if you set it up through AUM and tie midi to the frequency parameter, AUM will scale it linearly.

I used a Modwheel, and the frequency parameter responds linearly. Direct connection keyboard-Frekvens, sans AUM.
Edit: ah, now I understand. The knob responds linearly, but not the frequency of course.
@Phil999 To test frekvens with lemur I connected it to an iaa host first, that will keep it alive. The reason I do that is because some apple reviewers are a bit weird with apps playing sounds in the background, I think not all of them interpret the rules the same. Ideally I should put a switch in there somewhere for the user to decide.
Thanks

perhaps a case for 14 bit cc ?
Ah thanks for clarification.
I only have an 'infinite' knob controller available (performing with MPD pads, not keys). How would you recommend I set it up? Any general tips? I can modify the min/max on MPD itself too.
I'm not sure what you meant exactly with AUM. Is that for IAA or AU?
Issue I have (just to clarify) is that the parameter seems to jump between the lower ranges and the upper ranges without touching the central area.
au expose their cc to the host
in aum you meddle with these via the midi ctrl in the main menu, next to midi route
first pick the port which you are sending the cc to in the midi source section at top
pick channel which contains frekvens at bottom
now you can assign cc numbers to params
Cheers but I've got the mapping sorted, the problem I'm having is with getting the control to react in a musical way when using a rotary controller.
Your advice should be useful for others trying to set it up though.
nasty bug report
warm boot
start aum
add frekvens as IAA effect
remove frekvens
frekvens does not quit, and has no UI, and grabs the mic and starts howling until warm boot
@OscarSouth Hi yeah if you have a linear translation, it will do 10000 hz / 127 steps = 78.7 hz/step. So you won't be able to hit something like 50 hz or 60 hz, it will do probably 0 -> 78.7 -> 157.5 -> 236.2 and so on.
@wellingtonCres I am not sure there is anything I can do there, only apple can fix the IAA ghost apps I think. If you make sure to start frekvens at least once, hopefully it shouldn't happen.
Edit: Or actually clicking the frakvens icon should start the ui properly, should save you from resetting.

Thanks.
I'll have a look and see if this works inside AU.
Maybe due to the fine nature of this control I'll just use it from inside the app.
