  • Wow, down from $29.99, yes?
This is necessary, isn't it? I was sort of half-watching the Memorial Day sale window, but was not expecting the arms race that seems to be coming! Between DM2, Crystalline and this, my earmarked $50 is getting whittled away!

50 dollars you say? Consider it a down payment...

I am a bit biased towards it, I play a lot of metal, among other things. It is mint to play metal. ToneStack is excellent for most everything else. I love Bias FX and Jamup. The tone is remarkable and sounds lovely to my ears.

I don't think you will be disappointed. I think it has a few IAP. Can't remember. It is excellent even at its base. 10 bucks? How could a guitar player not get it? ;)

  • I was looking at the IAP's yesterday. Several effects packs for $4.99 each. Is that the sale price? It's a great deal for 6-7 pedals.

Well, when I was a working musician, it was as a bass player. And basically, if you have an Ampeg B1 simulation and compression? I'm kind of done. As a guitarist, I'm a pretty good bass player. I already have Ampkit+, though I haven't even fired it up yet, but I'd mostly use guitar for texture....

HaHaHa I see what you did there !!!

I don't play metal, but there are times when I want a metal sounding guitar, how is it on CPU usage ?

And is this valuable for tweaking nonguitar sounds?

I would say yes. Though, I think a lot of the FX pedals sound better in ToneStack.

The cloud is nice in Bias, you can download others presets they have made. I do this a lot and then tweak them. It's so strange to me that most of them people do not put a noise gate on their uploaded preset. I've about blown my ears to oblivion when I load up the preset to check it out, sometimes even before I play a note..........

Fair enough. I've got the Motherload in ToneStack, but I still think I'll bite on a few more effects IAP's in BIAS FX.

I know it's tired comparison, but paying $5 for this many pedals compared to $50 for a one crappy Boss Distortion pedal is AMAZING to me. We are so lucky.

Positive grid's iaps sound good to my ears.their compressors and od/ dist pedales are convincing.worth a buy.

Having BIAS plus ToneStack plus Flying Haggis is just an embarrassment of riches.

Not sure about BIAS FX (in more ways than one), but JamUp Pro has an Ampeg BlueLine available that brings the serious bass thug. As in the Algy Ward/"Machine Gun Etiquette" Damned-era kind of bass thug :sunglasses:

If my maths are correct, it would take 5 $5 IAPs to get all the treats BIAS FX has to offer. That plus the tenner cover charge makes it $35 and change. But it would normally be $80 and change ... @High5denied or @Flo26, can you or anyone else verify whether the random pops, hisses, fizzes and the occasional explosions reported in their App Store reviews (and elsewhere) have been an issue for you, or not?

I'm extremely pleased with JamUp Pro and BIAS amp. I just get the feeling sooner or later JamUp will get nexted by Positive Grid. Then I'd be wanting one of these sales right quick.

@Seangarland - I agree, but don't forget to add Mobile POD to the list. No less authority than Mr. John "MusicAppBlog" Walden swears by it. 'Course, you need a piece of Line 6 gear to get in the door, but if you do, it's all you can drink for free

Everything works fine for me with these apps.doesn't'it work for you?

It does for me too. Haven't noticed any pops. or fisses, or hizzes.

  • I noticed Bias Pedal IAP to unlock it is 4.99. @Flo26 You have that? If so is that worth it?

  • edited May 2016

So what do you actually get with the app, without buying any of the IAP's ?

Don't have it yet, but it's currently sitting on a 3 star rating on the App Store, due largely, viewing the comments, on a recurring issue with crackling and random sonic explosions. Zen Lizard gave it 5 stars, though, so between that and yourself and ...

... I'm running out of excuses for not upgrading to BIAS FX. It certainly LOOKS good enough. But my iPad is down to 6% available storage, so I've gotta spring for Auria Pro so I can offload some of its 50 GB worth of projects.

Ah well, if I'm unable to catch it now, they do seem to run this special 3 or 4 times a year. I'll patiently wait for the next sale, and hopefully a little more spare brass in my pockets :smirk:

Thank you both for the non-explosive feedback!

That being said, these apps are really good at what they do.
    Have fun!!

Your endorsement goes a long way in my neck of the woods.

    Cheers, Flo!

Actually, I don't need anything, I've got enough with Tonestack (and Ampkit+ - once they sort out the IAPs), but I'm curious. So, any info would be handy.

  • @eustressor another great feature with Bias FX is the ability to import your custom amps from Bias Amps. The tone clouds for these apps are also extremely useful. Lots of fun with these two.

Isn't it the first time IAPs are on sale too in Bias FX ?

  • is bias pedal on sale too? is it worth it, or is bias fx better. I will use guitar through both, but mainly want to run synths through them.

  • Bummer for me now. Bought this 4 days ago at full price. Doubt if apple will refund me the difference but i emailed them anyways.

Anyone else have this happen? Where apps go on sale after you buy them?

All of us, I mean every one, has both hands in the air my friend...

  • Sale!!! I hassled PG for a sale on this 2 days ago. Spent a few months tweaking my Zoom G5 (that's a multi fx pedal ok!) only to find the Bias Amp app I already had easily surpassed it in tone. So I begged them to put FX on sale. It's all about me ok! Ony question is what developer do I hassle next?

  • I bought this one to satisfy my curiosity and I was initially underwhelmed, but on further investigations I am warming to it some more. I've found that the presets for pretty much all the amp simulators are underwhelming and you have to create your own, to get more of a sense of what it can do.
I'm not keen on the chorus and phasers at all, but the overdrive / distortion pedals I am more so. I have to say that (currently) I don't think it's significantly better than Jamup Pro and I still can't figure out how these two apps are still concurrently available.
    Anyway, more shreddin' required :)

This. Are you tired abut me telling the story of getting a deal on Yamaha RX-11 drum machine for $275 when I was 20? Now, it's in funkbox with 30 other drum machines for $4.99!

    oh that's interesting. thanks

I own Tonestack motherload 1 and 2 so haven't dived in to any others outside of the free stuff.
Would love to spend a couple days with a pile of apps and hardware pedals and compare till I satisfactorily determine some rankings.

I should also say that it's pretty unstable with an iRig HD - I don't know if it's the HD that is contributing to the problems, but I thought I'd mention it nonetheless. Sounds cuts out intermittently / strange noises / no sound...

  • I use the iriffport and the griffin studio connect and they work perfectly.

  • IRig pro duo and Apogee jam working fine here.
