Hugely true of Teddy.
And hilarious and true statement about Borderlands. Exactly how I also feel about it!!
LOL +1 and about the same time-frame too
Oh don't , I got a speeding ticket yesterday so I'm banned from buying any more apps for a month (
Sorry to hear that (seriously speeding tickets are annoying on so many levels), but it does add a whole new price comparison/justification as to the cost/value of apps etc...
I have Poseidon, and while it's cool, it's a little bit baffling. Most of the presets seem to be created with sci-fi/horror-movie soundtrack designers in mind. I expect to grow into it.
But if you could describe Virsyn's synths in a word?
Addictive?
Tera?
(MicroTera)?
Is iVoxel anything more than a gimmick for the "Computer Welt" part of a song?
Thanks Captain . It was £100 , which buys a lot of apps , so it's a dry few months for me lol . Forces me to knuckle down and learn how to use the ones I've got though !!
You coulda avoided it if you weren't playing on Blocs while driving!
Essential.
Lol )
AmpKit+ is FREE again today.
Big fan of Addictive, Tera and Cube Synths. Looking at Arpeggist, any users?
Yep. Basically lets you use VirSyn's excellent built in Arp with your other synths. I used it for a simple, quick Synthmaster arpeggio, VirSyn style, and was quite happy with the results
all of them? What's the difference between Micro Tera and Tera?? Just building an arsenal of synths, which includes Sunrizer, iSem, FM4, Synthmaster, Poseidon, Nanologue, DRC... Hoping (vainly) that Animoog goes on sale. Aren't I kind of covered with these?
Also, none of these seem to have been updated since 2014....
@markk I would pony up the extra $$ for StepPolyArp. It's much better and well worth it's cost. Since I got it I deleted Arpeggist.
I own and frequently use SPA, so thanks Reid, I'll go get AUM instead. Cheers!
Did they incorporate any editing? That's a real question, not a challenge. I'm not by my iPad
Final Touch doesn't claim to be a wave editor as well as a mastering app and though further editing functions would be great in there unless they were the caliber of TwistedWave I'd assume use the latter regardless as part of seeing a track through. (Or Auria etc).
Stumbled upon this months ago, AB and IAA. There is a separate app for just the oscilloscope if you don't want the full studio suite with all the features.

I'm pretty sure Arpeggist and Poseidon are more recent than 2014.
You asked for a one word description. The VirSyn line of synths are awesome across the board. The onboard keys on Addictive and Poseidon, for example, can be played and then stretched all across the screen for wild modulation, much like Alchemy and AniMoog. Most allow you to record within the app and export as needed, with up to four layers. They play nice with other apps.
Oh, and their synths sound great
Borderlands dropped to $3,99.
Yes, I like what I've heard. Thanks!
As an owner only of Arpeggist, I'm wondering what their synths are like. I have to admit to not really being into Arpeggist. It feels archaic, like a previous generation of iOS app (although it does, thankfully, have IAA sync). I merely use it as a one-shot chord generator as the arp timing seems a little off. And, despite being an almost identical copy of NI's FM8 arp, it is surprisingly less intuitive for some reason. Even the randomiser results are distinctly dull or unmusical.
On top of that, it was "broken" when I bought it. Then an update broke the MIDI out. So....this is what holds me back from their synths, really. The lack of updates for nearly 2 years is a bit of a danger sign, too. Or maybe it's testament to the fact they don't need any fixing?
Arpeggist always sucked from the get go, but don't let that fool you from buying a synth or two. They've never been buggy.
I like Tera the best, but it can get a little scrolly/complex if you're building your own patches. If that sounds like a turn off, then go microTera or Addictive.
If something is broken, AUM seems to find it out, especially running multi synth setups.
Tera is the broken from my experience, crashes, stuck notes, glitches that take down everything else in a session.
And they do not answer support requests from my experience.
I would suggest staying away, until they fix IAA...it's shameful given how good it sounds.
Not worth arguing about, but trimming files and doing fades is a big part of mastering. Otherwise it's a processor. I'm not talking about complicated editing, I'm talking about just trimming starts and endings and fades. You can do it in twisted wave, audioshare, etc first if you want to use the dithering and bit conversion in final touch I guess. Either way, audio mastering does all of that in the same app, so I still answer the question that if you have audio mastering you don't need this. I won't stop anyone from buying it, so whatever the preference is go for it.
Either way, this beats them All:
I'll stay away for now. I guess they're more focused on their desktop apps, as they have every right to be.
They never replied to my support requests either, and I have no time for companies like that. Especially when you get one man teams behind apps like Seekbeats, AUM, Elastic Drums, with whom you can converse quite freely via Twitter or email about bugs which (in my experience) they can locate and fix within 24 hours.
I have Final Touch and like it. Got it on sale, and find it fairly intuitive and easy to improve the sound considerably. I like the modules for stereo editing, dynamics, pre/post EQ, etc. Also like the unlinking of channels and mid/side eq'ing too.
That being said, and even though I get all I really need in Final Touch... if Audio Mastering had a good sale, given the calibre and pedigree of the awesome developer of Fieldscaper, Soundscaper, etc... I'd buy it TOO in a heartbeat.
I love Addictive Synth, particularly the multiple randomizing options for creating patches.
So that's it for the sales?
Yes, it was a great one. I just saved A LOT of money.
Did you grab Borderlands? I got it on sale for $4.99 a couple months ago but it's $3.99 now. Worth having. I picked up the FM4 synth some here like for $2.99 and like it as well.
If you've got some credit burning a hole in your pocket... they aren't on-sale but most of the Humbletunes apps are hidden gems IMHO. They're inexpensive like $2. Most are midi controllable, universal, and don't take up much space, very compact. The interfaces are deceptively minimal and a little cryptic, but if you spend time with them to figure them out you can get some very nice complexity out of them. And the dev seems to be on the ball with keeping them updated. His Frekvens app is AU now too, and many support link as well. I have all of them now. They're all good, but shapesynth and frekvens have had the most recent updates.
