ULang incredible and completely ignored?
I was messing around with Soundbow since it's very buggy, especially if you're trying to use it with midi. There's another app that someone mentioned that looks like the same thing or a copy (Synthesize), but with easier recording and export to audioshare (only no midi).
So I went to the app store and to look up the dev's site to see if there was any mention of fixing this app. I really like it's simplicity and the midi function.. only it crashes like crazy and doesn't have IAA/AB or AS export.
While I was there, I saw a couple other apps from the same developer that are free. Both are interesting. One makes wave drawing landscapes with a slider. Kind of like PhonoPaper, but much more basic and not very useful. Although, I did make some abstact wave images with it to glitch up for an little instagram clip. (pasted below)
What REALLY caught my eye/ear was his other app ULang. It's also free (ipad only) but this thing is one of the most interesting sound apps I've seen in a long time. Very innovative. It doesn't have any IAA/AB, recording or anything... but from a design and innovative perspective, this thing is incredible. Looks like it's been out a year or so and no reviews, or anything. Strange. I'm just mesmerized by it.

Finally answering the question posed by D.J. Shadow, "What does your soul look like?"
That's a great question to meditate on.
Check out the ULang free app... at first I thought it didn't do much, until I read more of the instructions and played with it more. Very cool app. Hope the dev is still evolving it. Sent an email to see.
Is this supposed to be viewed with Google cardboard?
make sure to set the mystic circles into flight... wish it could save... also seems to start from scratch again if another app is switched into foreground. great discovery by @skiphunt
Yes... it's so good, I think I'll bother with just running it into Logix via lightning cable Audio Midi Setup
No. I messed with this dev's other free app called Land Waves. It makes some audio wave graphic images. Basic. Then took those and edited them together with various glitch animations, then made a 60sec adio clip to go with it to upload to instagram.
Just the kind of stuff I do that's completely for the fun of it and of little or no use. I referenced it in my text, so I thought I'd use it as post decor.
That's my whole video-work procedure too, Instagram let up on the 15-second limit so i've cautiously crept up to the margins of Plot, still not making sense tho.
At this point, I'm just using it to try weird stuff out, and keep it down to 60secs. But, I noticed that you can upload sequential 60sec clips that are sort of linked to each other. Or, at least I think I saw that you can now do that. If so, I'll likely try that at some point for more narrative short stuff.
Very nice find, thank you. Just about diving in now... (Ulang/soundbow)
Thanks for the tip off, good for droney bizness - a tasty little app !!!
Dev says still in development with updates coming. Requested AB/IAA with AS export and midi in/out. Said I'd be willing to pay as IAP
I have that from way back. It's nowhere near in the same league as ULang. It's got interesting automation, manipulation of each cell, and much more. It looks like a "gizmo" as you've called it if you haven't bothered to dig in a little. But it's really much more if you take the time to explore it.
I don't begrudge your "gizmo" labeling. I thought that at first too and almost deleted it. Then I explored all its features and recognized it's capable much more than you get from first glance.
Hope the dev really is continuing its development, but we've all heard that one before haven't we.
Thanks for the tip. I had completely overlooked this one.
Spent a fair amount of the afternoon with it.
I also would be willing to support further development by means of IAPs.
Yep. It's great. Makes some really crazy noises.
hi all,
we've hopefully fixed midi issues with SoundBow when multiple apps are connected to the midi environment with the latest (1.3) release. hope that helps.
(ps. thanks for the comments on ulang. as it is a part of academic research, we plan to continue the development, and this forum is a very strong influence). stay tuned, ulang will turn upside down in a few weeks
