Samplr Doubled?

Hello, I'm wondering if it is possible to sync 2 ipad Air both running Samplr and then record the output of each into IOS DAW. I also have an iPhone. Thanks!!

Samplr doesn't have Link support. You could try it via MIDI clock sync but be warned that you might experience some clock drift.

  • Thanks, Would I be using Audiobus still or is AUM instead of? what would be the hardware connection between the 2 ipads and am I needing the phone too? I don't own anything yet to connect the devices.

  • You can connect the two devices virtually over wifi, although it makes the clock sync even more dicey... You could buy a piece of hardware like the iConnectivity interfaces if you'd like to hard wire the iPads together.

Shouldn't have any issues using MIDI Link Synch. Dead useful free app, and the best way that I've found to get Samplr lined up exactly (using it's delay offset control).

What I meant is. Samplr is pretty rock solid with AUM over IAA sync. Aum can ableton link with other apps and even other aums. So using 2 iPads with 2 Aums hosting 2 samplrs he's pretty much sorted :) all he has to do then is have 1 of the aums have an input channel from his audio interface connected to the output from the other iPad.

Record master output channel and you basically have the mix. There's no need for a 3rd device.

Got it. That's clever--hadn't thought of that implementation.

  • Samplr doesn't do iaa sync in my iPad, only midi clock, I personally use sector, and it sync perfectly and also start and stop in sync, I imagine link to midi is the best solution for you (to sync 2 devices)

thanks, not understanding though what you mean by "link to midi"

  • Sorry, the app named "link to MIDI" which purpose is to sync apps or hardware that have midi clock with link

  • I'd try both 'Link to MIDI' and 'MIDI Link Sync'. I've used both extensively and 'MIDI Link Sync' functioned infinitely superior for me.

In 'Link to MIDI' I had to use drastic delay offset values to get things lined up, but 'MIDI Link Sync' rarely requires any adjustment at all. Last dosen or so times that I've booted up I've not had to move the offset from 0 where 'Link to MIDI' was anywhere between -100 to +100, requiring fine tuning EVERY boot up.

  • Thanks everyone, this is very helpful! :-)
