New parody conflation...

...which probably requires a bit of explanation. Some of you may recall previous mentions of my 'Stone Trek' online cartoon series. During the time I was getting a handle on that concept I had branched off to thinking about other parody ideas mixing TREK with other shows and miscellania, and the most obvious other 'conflation' was throwing 'ST:TNG' together with 'The Jetsons' and see what would happen.

Besides the little bit of art and animation I've created for the concept, this piece would be instrumental (if I were in production mode) as a theme song (as with 'Stone Trek') but I got a hair up my derrière to work on it after locating a rather nice MIDI file of 'The Jetsons' theme which I cannibalized in bs-16i, using Inter-App Audio to transfer each track over to Garageband and keep what I needed.

All the tracks are GB instruments, where I made particular use of the new Brass and String instruments.

I'll also admit to being 'inspired' by the MECO cover of the 'ST:TNG' theme.

True, but something quick and to-the-point is usually the best (when producing for the Internet), at least from my experience with 'Stone Trek'. Also, I wanted to explore ways of re-arranging the melody, since early attempts made certain passages drag out too long for my tastes.

But I'm pleased you enjoyed it!

  • Very fun! Please do Eep Opp Worf Ah Ah (sung in Klingon).

Funny you should make such a request: In 'The Treksons' there is a Mr. Rorf, who is a Kringon and talks like Astro the dog; the Kringons are wild partiers (whom Rorf wants very little to do with) and they announce themselves by group-singing a pirate shanty to the tune of the opening cue from ST:TMP (where the Klingons encounter V'ger).

Wasn't Rorf a character on Farscape?

  • This is true - he and his mate Rorg were bounty hunters. RORF is also the Radio Optical Reference Frame.
