I might go for this at this price. Bought it months ago but requested a refund, yet I can't recall what my issues with it were. Hopefully not about to discover it was something vital like poor clock sync.
Ok, cost/benefit analysis: genome versus infinite loop or versus modstep. Three apps enter, one app leaves.
I did the same. For me, I could never get it to consistently send more than one note simultaneously. I figure it had to be me, but I just couldn't conquer the issues. I'm tempted to pick it up this time out of curiosity if for no other reason.
I bought Genome Sequencer years ago as one of my first apps and I have barely used it in all that time. It is just really fiddly and tough to get anything useful out of. It isn't very intuitive either. I'd add that at this point seems like abandonware. I can think of a bunch of ways to spend $6. Maybe I'm just bitter for having spent my $15 and not feeling like I got even $1 worth out of it. It certainly hasn't been updated much since I bought it either.
edit: well, it seems I'm wrong about abandonware, it was recently updated in September 2015. Sorry about that.
I love genome!.
Can't wait for link!
Very SOON!
And update Aud Remote features!
Love GENOME !!!
1 sequencer app for me!
Why?
One of those apps (as previously mentioned) that I have on occasion opened and figured out how to make encouraging noise with, and then all has become clear: It is arcane in its layout, but now, finally, I am past the heavy woolen skirts and amongst the underwear....emboldened, later I open it again and have no idea how I got where I did nor how to get back there. I leave, an hour wasted, back and cold on the far outside...
Love the fact that it's so easy to chain patterns into songs with Genome and that's a strong feature missing in ModStep
When it gets Link it will be well worth it.
It's a perfect companion to iOS Soundcanvas
Still need to spend more time with Pro Midi to see which one i finally choose...
you have a song mode similar to Gadget in modstep; might not be what you want/need, but it 's not that there isn't one
With modstep you can chain up to 16 patterns, with different playback speeds, per clip; then you can chain how many clips you want a la gadget.
+1 This.

Yepp, but how about re-using a pattern from another 'scene' without having to duplicate/copy it to a new 'scene'?
This is the same limitation that is present in Gadget and Live too. In Genome the same pattern can be used in any scene and as many times as needed without the need to make an additional copy.
I could live with 'pattern aliases' in ModStep as it's a chore to replace all copies once a change to the original pattern is made. These 'pattern aliases' could have additional playback control such as transpose.
On the other hand I love the 'Layers' in Infinite Looper that in ModStep have to be done using additional tracks as two 'patterns' can not play at the same time on one track thanks to the 'scene approach'.
I know these are 'work flow' related issues rather than technical issues and all methods get time to get adjusted to.
The 'problem' with current version of Genome is that the patterns go out of sync after muting/un-muting making it less than optimal for live usage... Hoping the future update will fix this.
Sooner or later I will get ModStep too...
