Fugue machine and transport controls, Help!

Hi guys, first post on this forum ✌
I've been using Auria for a while, but only to record my old band, (I'm a bass player) so was just used to plugging in mic's and pressing record lol. However I've treated myself to an iPad Pro lately and discovered what is possible with all the apps out there now so I've got the bug. I know a bit about midi but I'm no expert especially when it comes to virtual midi and iaa etc.
The problem I'm having is I can't get fugue machine to work with any transport controls, so when I hit play or record in Auria pro or AUM (only got AUM last night so still figuring it out) fugue machine won't start, I have to start fugue machine then switch back to whichever app I want to record with then hit record which causes it to be out of sync. It's got me thinking if it's even possible as there is no iaa transport panel within fugue so maybe It can't be done (yet)
Just wondering if anyone could clarify this or explain how they go about doing it if it is in fact possible.
Thanks.

  • Better way is to start the recording app, with a long count in. Then switch to Fugue Machine. Then press play in FM.

  • fugue machine does not support iaa transport. veeeeery few apps do, which is a major bummer.

i do no know if it supports mmc, in my limited experience, i can not get auria to send mmc successfully to anything.

  • Using any other apps?

Just looking at what messages and all channels are doing for you.

  • Just had another thought.

Use the play button in Audiobus.

    So what you do is

Load FM into AB input slot
Load Auria into AB output slot

Either create a midi track or an audio track

If it's a midi track connect fugues midi output to Auria and tell it to receive clock from Auria

Arm the track to be recorded in Auria

Press the record button in Auria, which is record pause mode.

Then press the start button in AB on the AB tab. Fugue should then start to play and Auria should start to record.

  • The alignment is perfect by Fugue midi data to Auira Pro with 100 % automation. So take it easy and by sending Auria clock to drive Fugue's 'midi in'. Only sending midi notes back to Auria. Your question is 100% solvable. So enjoy.

AUM has no playhead command to start Fugue's midi.

Use Modstep to drive Fugue is a better choice. AUM is for audio mixing, not a midi sequencer to drive Fugue.

  • Cool, will try that out later, thanks for the quick replies guys, posted this in the Auria forum a few days ago and no reply at all yet haha.

Worked a treat, I think where I cocked up is that I set fm midi input to auria, where I should have set it to fugue midi in.
