Hello

Here is Tom from Synth Anatomy

I released today a preview video of the upcoming update of iDensity 2

Update 2.5 brings:

  • additional 2 audio streams of granular synthesis
  • Multi Channel Support for streaming audio between different apps

So you are able to stream two audio streams to one app and the other ones to another app or split them in different
effect processors.

The update will coming in 2 weeks (Informations from the developer)

Wow, that is hex ambient king! Poseidon's brother.

  • Kudos, Kudos! Super set of features - anxiously awaiting.

  • looks great, Link too :)

  • my experience with granular synthesis is limited to borderlands, and i want more!

    is this what i want?
can i create a pitch following midi instrument?
can i sync the playback of loops relative to the link bpm?

  • 6 separate audio channels, sweet!

Granular synthesis is like listening to a sound with a fan in the way. It’s quite a useful sound effect (I hesitate to call it a synthesis method), if you really need to make distinct and defined sounds appear to be behind a fan.

  • Love this app , and looking forward to the update .

    @Tom Synth Anatomy
I notice though that in the video , after activating all 6 channels in iDensity , when it switches to the aum screen only the first four channels are showing the play icon in aums left hand menu . Is this something that will be fixed in the final version , or is it something that needs some kind of screen refresh in aum ?

  • It's a bug or so ;) I talked already with the developer ;)

  • I don't have the 4 channels of the current version. Have they been removed?

  • It'd be cool if you could assign a different colour scheme to the individual streams.

  • Do the streams sync and time stretch?

It works by moving a play head along each sample , so no conventional time stretching as far as I'm aware , but it can have a similar effect when you change the speed it moves - a bit like four versions if Audiostretch going at once

It's a great app , one of my favourites

  • Multi Channel Audio Support is coming in version 2.5 ;)

I'm familiar with the basics, I guess I've just been waiting on it to be able to sync the audio as it's natural to want to put some grooves together in an app that can tweak audio so well.

  • Right. This is going to be huge. It is surely going to need a modstep template.

I believe they are/were part of an IAP. But in looking at the app description now on the App Store, it looks like the IAP is now free.

  • Yeah I paid for them , about a fiver I think

  • I also, it was gratifying that as soon as I paid for the IAP it went free, some time ago.

  • question, does idensity allow you to import audio from your iTunes library and does it allow you to edit that audio, specifically create loops and truncate them destructively so one can save space?

No but I think he is working on gesture recording while in scrub mode, not sure if will be this update or not

  • I would hope there was a rush to sync and stretch as it' would seem like a no brainer for an app like this.....iap it so I can paid it, no what i mean vern...

    Only Kraftwerk songs.

Yeah, I bought the IAP on Day One, but no regrets from me. Alessandro, the developer at apeSoft puts a TON of work into keeping his apps updated and bringing new features, so I'm glad to help invest in that.

Plus, he made iVCS3, which is still one of the best things about iOS music, if you ask me.

Apesoft and amazing noises among others make it worth it to have an ios device; i buy whatever comes out to support them and use their apps daily

I'm very exited about this update, I can't wait!!!

So you have 4 audio/IAA channels out? Or is it the 4 audio streams instead of the original 1 stream? Guess I hoped it had gone patterning on me...

  • 6 IAA streams out....looking forward to this, if he's working on gesture recording too, that will make this very powerful. So hopefully each stream will react to Link individually and can start on the next phase etc

  • Looking forward to this...love the Ape.
