DM2: Issues?
I am not talking about "features".
That isn't the rabbit hole I am hoping to get into here.
I am wondering if anyone else is having crash issues with DM2?
I believe it happens when I am using app with other apps in Audiobus. This includes DM2 playing its own notes as well as an outside app triggering notes.
Is this a common issue?
It has happened over 2 times, so I feel it is a problem with the app more than me.
Thanks for confirming or not.
If this is an issue, has the developer acknowledged and aware of it?
Or is there a work around setting or way to avoid this shut down?
Thanks

Have not used it in while but tried to sync using midi clock with DM1 and it would crash so have given up on it for time being. Few times it did not crash would not sync anyway. You would think two related apps could sync together without needing to use an external app. Needs sorting.
I actually tried the same thing.
Very disappointing.
Thank God for Patterning and Seek Beats!!
Nearly bought this but held off due to bad reviews .
The app is a great little app, if it was up for the challenge.
Unfortunately, apps being competitive, you gotta have your app ready.
Beta testing being neglected is not good. Ruins an apps first impression.
Took a long time for people to get on with DM1. This isn't good.
It's not particularly likable. The presets kits are all minor variations of the same skronky industrial soundset. But it was cheap enough, and when some amazing update comes out, it'll be good to have.
You've hit the nail on the head with the "likeable" part. It leaves me cold. Very limited scope for sound design, no bottom end, lack of modulation...it's kind of useful for augmenting better drum apps, but it has no real defining character, musicality or "wow" factor.
It's a little unstable in Modstep and Studiomux, too.
Exactly. I currently have it deleted. I will let it sleep in the ether waiting for those updates.
Shame , the UI and workflow look great , sounds like it needs a bit of polish to get it finished though
For some reason, when switching between my own patterns in song mode, DM2 stutters. Doesn't do it with the demo songs. All I've done is literally copy pattern 1 into 2, and it won't transition between the two without a slight hiccup. Can anyone else replicate this?
Wow, unanimity almost.
I was trying to be open minded. But, I guess being my miserable self and a pessimist is accurate.
I actually feel like most of the sounds are the same as many of the stock DM1 sounds.
I guess it not.
I will still give it some time and a chance. (once it gets fixed from freeze/crash)
Am finding if I have DM1 and DM2 open at same time as soon as I hit play on DM2 it crashes. On iPad Air 2 latest IOS - anyone else getting this?
Personally like DM2's sounds. It sounds like a lot of other synth based drum boxes to me - like elastic drums, Fxpansion's Tremor, and even a little like Sonic Charge's Microtonic. I'm looking forward to the modulation features the dev has discussed. I think those will help DM2's sound come alive more.
Do you have DM1?
Just about most of what is on DM2 is on DM1.
Granted, DM1 is a monster with a huge library. And yes, took a long time to get right.
I remember for the first 1 and a half issues with MIDI start and importing stuff.
I would love DM2 to get it all right. Just gotta do it in a timely manner.
Yes I have DM1. Haven't done a direct comparison to see if there are samples in DM1 that sound like the DM2 presets but I'll take your word for it. Even if the presets in DM2 were exactly the same as samples in DM1, there are sounds you can get by modulating parameters in a drum synth (DM2) that would be difficult or impossible to achieve in a drum sampler (DM1). So IMO, the two apps offer very different sound possibilities.
I won't buy DM2...... Until they fix DM1( and they had plenty of time. Even wrote to me in an email, they will add link to DM1........ They haven't, but brought this out instead)..... DM1 an excellent sounding vintage Drum machine that cannot communicated with midi time clock with other apps......Always Fooked(after update, after update)....... Until DM1 gets fix(at least with Link)........ I won't touch this at all........
Never had any problems with FunkBox...... Always reliable(would be nice to have Link option with it tho)
Just noticed the same thing yesterday. Also, link doesent seem to work properly with dm2. Sometimes it connects, but doesent sync with other apps, but most the time it doesent even connect to other apps with link, i just get link notification that says, connected to 0 apps or something like that. And when i go to the link menu, it just keeps on searching link enabled apps and says connected to 0 apps.
Kinda sucks because what do you do with a drum machine that wont sync to anything? Ofc there are ways to get them to same place so that they play in sync, but its often just too much hassle.. Especially since there are no proper exporting options.
I tried DM2 Link sync with AUM, Patterning, iMaschine2, and DM1. I didn't encounter any sync or audio problems using an iPad Air 2 running iOS 9.3.4 and the most recent updates of all the apps. I was able to use my own songs or the demo songs, change the tempo in DM2 or the other apps without problems.
DM2 seems to be sketchy sync wise with some other apps but not all, currently running it happily alongside ED in Aum with Fugue running the EHX mini synth. I've reluctantly come to the conclusion that there's often little rhyme or reason when it comes to successful midi sync on iOS. So many variables, such as opening apps in a certain order etc, leave it as a bit of a hit or miss situation. My biggest disappointment with DM2 was the limited variety of sounds in the included kits, as mentioned above. The ridiculously 'hot' output level also mystifies me. That said it's got a lot of potential for mangled electronic beats.
The idea of DM2 is to be more of a synth where you make your own sounds. DM1 is more for presets and exporting your own sounds.
I noticed the really high output yesterday as well, wasnt nice to notice it when running the ipad through my guitar tube amp head and hearing the tubes screaming the beat loud as hell, even tho the master was set to about half way only.. Luckily it didnt seem to do any damage.
