rant of the day

I'm sorry to disturb you with such a first world problem but the reminder of "your f-ckin ios update is waiting for you" is driving me C.R.A.Z.Y. I NEVER update the first moment an update arrives and the constant pushing (who am i?A 5 years old?Do you -apple- really think a 5 years old would have the CASH for such a device??) is too much for my nerves (especially if it's so warm outside),In the"beginning"it was at least just once a day but since 9.1 or 9.2 it reminds me a couple of times each day.On ipad AND phone. And no,you can not just close the window...at least you have to open and close the settings (thats the fastest way) to get rid of this PEST.Thanks apple and before i forget: F-CK OFF!

/rant off

thanks for listening

  • I have no idea why my writing changed to italic at some point but who cares...

If you did the update your italic would work properly.

No,i figured it out:i used a special character to disguise the very nasty words.Had something to do with stars

  • That update reminder/nag gets on my nerves too! It has gotten to the point that the latest OS update reminder tries to trick you into approving it. It makes the 4 digit unlock code screen pop up and if you enter your unlock code you effectively give Apple permission to perform the update.

It sucks. That is why Jailbreaking is so popular, to eliminate such nonsense.

  • The iPad update reminders have been annoying me too - I updated a couple if weeks back to get rid , but then a new update came out the next day , and after checking here up saw there were some issues held off - but I now have to put up with them all over again

After asking the nag goes to a keypad where I have to confirm again , that I don't want to update . Seriously irritating , and it pooped up and interrupted a recording once too .

Whoever decided this was a good idea is in fact , an idiot

  • Me too. Totally.

An annoying idiot ! Still could be worse , it could install the updates without permission like Windoze ten lol

  • Not sure why but I don't get this nagging reminder. Perhaps I've turned it off via some setting without realising?

  • I got nagged multiple times a day for 932 until I deleted the update file from the storage area on my phone and ipad-- haven't had a single nag since.

Maybe you don't have enough free space to download it? That used to be the way I kept the damn things from auto-downloading in the past.

I have a 128GB Pro with about 30GB used, so it can't be that....

  • Totally expected to come in here for the rant and think that it was just some bull. BUT I AGREE SO MUCH. Why do I have to remind myself later? How bout remind me in a year?

    .

  • I liked the italics joke.

  • Just update. 9.3.2 has been a blast for me. On both my iPads.

  • Yep very annoying. I don't want to update from 9.3.1 yet because I like using the assistive touch speed bug thing which they've fixed now.

Apparently it downloads in the background when you are charging, so will download again when you delete it. I just had a look for an answer and the only way I've found so far is a workaround where you use your router to block Apple site mesu.apple.com....not tried it but worth a search for this if anyone is interested. I think if you do it right this blocks the mothership from updating iOS but still lets apps updates and iCloud through etc.

  • My delight has been those occasions where it downloads the update in the background thus nuking my free space such that I can't work until I install it or delete it; but the cherry on the top is when said download also depletes the battery from ~100% all the way down to around 1% thus rendering the device inoperable entirely without an hour on the charger. This has happened twice so far. Bravo Apple. My true delight of course is that all my devices are now individually downloading the firmware whereas before I used to download one copy on iTunes, thus Apple are now also pissing away my limited bandwidth.

  • This forum keeps me from wanting to DL updates right away. Thankfully...
