Fugue Machine noob with a few questions.
I can't seem to get Fugue to work on Network Session 1. It set to send out on that network and my synth is set to input on Session 1 but I get no sound. Also where is the best place to send feedback to the Dev? I find the controls a bit fiddly, I'm always overshooting or undershooting back and forth till I finally get the parameter set the way I want. Too my fingers cover the display circle so it's hard to see the parameter change.

Network session 1 is for wifi.
If your synth is on the same iPad then you will need to use virtual midi.
Ah, so what would virtual midi be? I assume if I want to use Fugue with more than one iPad synth I need to network them all. I thought that is what Network Session 1 was.
Are the synths on the same iPad ? Then you need to set it to fugue machine out and set each synth to listen to fugue machine out on the appropriate channel (1-4)
I posted a video for this yesterday, it does have a thread here on the forum but here is the video
OK so to be sure. I need AUM?
Before I just set Fugue to output on MIDI channels 1 & 2 for two playheads through Network Session 1 and then set two iOS synths to receive via Network Session 1 on their respective MIDI channels. Which didn't work.
@Holiday are there specific apps you're trying to control via Fugue Machine, if so why don't you list what they are and if the apps are all on the same device or not? Different apps can have different ways of setting up their MIDI which will effect what sort of settings you'll need with Fugue Machine or if you'd need other apps besides your synth apps and Fugue Machine.
Well, so far I tried Magellan, iSem, Thor...I can send to any one app, I just can't do multiple playheads for multiple apps.
You're thinking the opposite. Set the midi outs as fugue machine midi out. Then go to each synth app and select midi in as fugue machine midi out channel1, fugue machine midi out channel 2, etc.

@Holiday @gonekrazy3000 solution will work for these apps. Some synth apps only receive MIDI from their own virtual port which wouldn't work but the ones you've listed don't have that issue.
You got a point there. But for apps that don't support this method I reroute the midi using modstep. That might be a little beyond what he needs to know for his apps so I didn't mention that.
Well I decided to pick up AUM and managed to figure it out. It can get a lil confusing at the beginning though. Pretty cool to have a multiplayhead sequencer on different synths. Gotta try with hardware next. I wanted to ask the Fugue Dev if he could do something about the GUI. I find my fingers obscure the parameter I'm changing and the sensitivity is a bit too high making it hard to land on the setting I want. He visit this forum?
Sorry to piggyback on the thread, but since a Fugue Machine MIDI thread was made today, I didn't want to make another. I have tried sending MIDI from Fugue Machine to Sunrizer and Korg Gadget. Ultimately, it worked for both, but with an issue. I cannot hear any sound while Fugue Machine is visible. I have to switch back to the app being controlled to hear any sound. I know this is not normal, as none of the soundtestroom videos have this problem. Does anyone know why this is happening and what I can do to rectify it? Much appreciated.
you need to enable background audio in the synths settings, or run them from an IAA host like AUM
Thanks. Really appreciate it. I'm a complete noob to iOS production. Only bought AudioBus a couple days ago.
I‘m having trouble to find the main thread, sorry for diggin that deep
Does Fugue have a swing setting?
I don't think so, so you could put its midi live through a Mozaic script like Apply Swing (available on Patchstorage) as a workaround.
Thanks. Interesting idea, gonna try that with other apps first.
