Anyone knows great apps or devices for playing backing tracks on the stage?

Hi, I'm looking for iPad air apps that can be connected to audio interface (I have scarlett 2i4) and it can output more than 2 outputs? (the audio interface has 4 outputs) for backing tracks on the stage.

I don't need great DAW apps cuz it's just for playing backing tracks, I don't need to edit or record, don't need any effects...
I just wanna import the tracks to iPad app separately, adjust levels and 3 or 4 outputs individually from the audio interface.

Example, click tracks go to drummer using output 1, bass tracks go to the bass amp using output 2, other synth sounds go to PA system using output 3 and 4....etc.

I'm using cheap multi track recorder now, just pan Left (click tracks for drummer) and Right (all other sounds to PA) but this way it's really hard to get correct levels of each sounds, especially the bass sound...I don't want that sounds go through PA.

Would anybody know great ideas? apps? or devices? Rather than bringing my expensive laptop every shows.

Please help me and let me know~!
Thanks :)

  • Sounds like a job for AUM

  • AUM in conjunction with Multitrack DAW...
Or just Multitrack DAW I guess, because AUM can record, but I didn't see that he could playback a multi track recorded song...

You can load your stems per channel with the file player

  • ShowOne - Pro Backing Tracks Tool for Musicians by One Zero One Audio

    Looks worth considering

  • Hmm...Good to know ! :)

  • check out SyncInside.
SyncInside plays two stereo files syncronised play (file 1: stereo backing tracks, file 2: click and/or timecode) or a single file (4 channel interleaved).

  • I have used Audioshare for playing backing tracks on stage. You can see the titles in an editable list and you have a folder structure to keep them organised :)

  • Hey, thanks for your opinions~!! i will check them out :)

  • I think AUM is the best, but more expensive than others and unnecessary functions for just playing backing tracks.
I like that 6 channels (could be more?) I can manage and adjust levels though.

I see other SycInside would work great too, but they only have 4 channels max and not sure if it's built in mixers on the app which I could adjust each channel levels??
    but cheaper than AUM.

    What do you guys think?
