iOS Music Frustrations Part II
So I decide to load up Synthmaster into AUM and activate Link. SM doesn't recognize AUM as a Link'ed device. I was thinking that the arp in SM would follow tempo changes in AUM through Link and I could record a couple of clean loops with AUM. Silly me.
Then I load DM2 and SM recognizes it through Link. OK good. Start out with everything playing nicely at 120. Change tempo in AUM. DM2 follows right along. SM arp continues at 120. The tempo shown in SM is the same as what is playing in AUM/DM2 but the actual tempo is still 120. If I nudge the tempo control in SM it starts playing at the same tempo but not in sync.
This is the kind of stuff I was trying to get at in my previous post.
I've seen other posts saying Link works in SM and most Link'ed apps respond to tempo changes in AUM. But not SM. It doesn't even see AUM through Link. Do others see this?

just confirmed that sm and aum sync properly over link... you sure you have link enabled in aum?
you enable it by clicking the metronome in top left, then choosing the 3 dot menu drop down
Link is enabled on all devices. What I'm seeing is that SM doesn't follow tempo changes made in AUM but AUM follows tempo changes made in SM. I suppose I can live with that. Thanks for your reply.
I too confirm that SynthMaster Player will change the tempo it displays when it changes tempo in AUM but the audio played in SynthMaster Player will not change tempo. I can also get the same behavior where SynthMaster Player will change tempo displayed but not the audio in response to another link app when AUM isn't even running. SynthMaster Player will change audio output in response to MIDI clock changes in or out of AUM (AUM doesn't send MIDI clock).
Link tempo changes in SynthMaster Player do seem broken and it doesn't seem to have IAA host sync either. If I turn off Link in the app while running in AUM and set the app to receive MIDI from the Link to MIDI app, the audio from the app does change when you change the tempo with Link enabled in AUM (if Link in the app were working you wouldn't need this roundabout method).
