Auria Pro questions for existing users

Hey guys.

Been thinking of grabbing Auria Pro for a while but I had a few questions.
1) how rock solid is it's midi clock sync ? Does it sync well to modstep ? Or AUM ?
2) does it support audiobus multi inputs ?
3) does it come with a good sidechain plugin ? If not is there an Iap that lets you sidechain?
4) last but not least. Does it state save apps loaded into it ?

My CC guru, it does everything quite excellent.

Only 4 big problems for me, personally.

    1. It allows you to clock other apps. It is hard to let other apps to clock it. I said apps, not hardware. Don't get me wrong.
    2. There is no internal formal keyboard
    3. It is hard to switch, arrange, viewing and tweaking plugins together, that is not possible without big underneath refurbish.
    4. No individual track looping concept

Damn. Just 1) is pretty much a deal breaker for me. I intended on using modstep as primary clock source since it has ableton link as well which auria does not.

    2) don't really need a software keyboard since I use hardware 99% of the time. Atleast 1 Keith Macmillan K-board is always in my bag alongside my iPad.

3)that sounds like another deal breaker :/

    4) so no track looping whatsoever ? Another deal breaker.

I guess no auria for now :(

Maybe cubasis might be a better fit. I actually tried it on a friend's ipad but I think it lacks sidechaining too...

It's a cathedral missing the odd abattoir, but it's the closest thing to heaven's DAW we sinners have got so far...

Lol. I just need something to edit my external synths with. On PC I have ableton but when travelling I usually only carry an iPad and the volcas. Was just wondering what I can use. Didnt mean I'd actually buy cubasis lol.

Not buying ? Take this guy and shoot. Ask this kind of serious question. Go ahead, shoot this CC guru... LOL o:)

  • The FabFilter ProC, ProMB, ProG, Saturn, Volcano and Timeless plug-ins can all do side chain.

  • In fact, I didn't understand why Kaikoo, who is a black belt in Auria Pro-jitsu, said it's not possible to do side chain with Auria.

    No, I didn't say that :)

He didn't say it cannot actually. he said it can do all i asked for. he just pointed out 4 other problems with it.

  • My bad, I read it fast and wrong. :D

  • to be fair. on further consideration it might be worth grabbing it even with the clock and loop problems. out of curiousity how expensive would it be if i grabbed ProC, ProMB, ProG, Saturn, Volcano and Timeless ?
along with auria ? not 100$+ i hope.

He wants me pull over for shooting :'(

TheConnatic is actually real Auria musician, I hurt his feeling. :)

    360$

ouch. thats how more than i paid for my ableton suite upgrade D=
i think i'll pass for now. all i really need is Aufx:Push to become an au. then i'm sorted :)

  • Well, I opened the Auria Store and these are the current prices:

    Pro C2 - $29.99
    Pro MB - $39.99
    Pro G - $29.99
    Saturn - $19.99
    Volcano2 - $19.99
    Timeless2 - $19.99

So I guess yes, unfortunately it would go north of $100 to rule it all. Bear in mind these are direct ports of their desktop counterparts, meaning you get great value (I know a friend who uses Logic Pro X but bought Auria just to use the FabFilters, since a single FabFilter plugin for the mac costs near $200, and the total bundle costs almost $1000!).

There are two more tutorial apps on Fab.

After two courses, you will have no fears on Twin2 and fx.

In fact, $210. $360 would be for the entire plugin pack.

Yup just noticed it wasn't asked for the full suite

  • P.S.: $210 including the $50 for Auria Pro, which comes with FabFilter Twin and One for free!

to be honest it seems like the only thing i actually need from all of those is the pro c2. (have au's that do pretty much everything else i need. will just feed in aum channels via audiobus into auria.) i'm assuming
auria pro allows multiple instances ? if yes that makes it a grand total of 80$. which is a lot more
    palatable.....

  • Yes, multiple instances, as with all Auria plugins by the way, but be sure to set the buffer size to 4096 or freeze tracks if you're not on the iPad Pro or at least the Air2...

  • @gonekrazy3000 FYI, last year the Fabs went on sale at the end of the year. I don't remember exactly what the discount was, but it was around 30 or 40 percent.

own an air2 currently. so should be fine with say 3-4 instances.

I remember seeing that but at the time i just had a lowly Ipad3 :(

  • A possibly silly question: when you freeze an IAA synth's track in Auria, no wave file is produced the way it is in Cubasis. Am I missing something>

  • If there is sound, there is the wav file. In Auria, when a track is frozen, everything is bounced to audio, but you cannot edit or do anything to or with this bounced audio. If you want a new editable/movable wav file from a MIDI track or another audio track, you should bounce in place (menu Process/Bounce Track In Place).
