Which AU monosynth?
Suddenly there seems to be a bunch of them available. Which do you recommend ... or do they all sound similar? I already have iSEM.

Hard to choose between Viking and NS1. iSem is good but you can't clock the arp. Others don't attract me like Viking and NS. FWIW
I like Enkl but find the interface is pretty small on my Air1
Thanks. Are there any differences between Viking and NS1 besides the price?
Buy em all I tell ya. And do multiple instances. AUs can be so much fun.
And regarding iSems arp not clocking just don't use it. I use thumbjam, step poly arp or literally any of the arps out there.
I've got them all but Enkl gives me better creative inspiration
NS1 is actually polyphonic and kind of reminds me of my old Juno 106 coupled with a delay unit. I may be wrong, but I think NS1's one oscillator has an "always on" sub-oscillator at an octave lower. I don't think there's any way to change this.
Viking is reminiscent of a Minimoog. The presets it comes with include a lot of typical MM sounds. Nice, warm leads and basses.
Monophonic : Enkl, Viking, bassalicious (3 good synth)
Polyphonic: Isem, KQ minisynth, NS1 (kq is not my cup of tea)
I have them all (except NS1) and i would like to buy NS1 but i was afraid because it's expensive and from an unknow dev.Is NS1 a good synth ? Does it worth 10 dollars/euros ? How many presets ? I can't find video or soundcloud's demo and there are no reviews of it in the appstore.I have too much monophonic synth
Does it mean that it's not a good synth ?
viking synth gets a top rating from me. sounds absolutely terrific, is rock solid, has great presets, and is easy to program and modulate.
NS1 filter sounds very much like my old Roland SH-1. It's pretty straightforward which I prefer because I can get good sounds quickly. I like the included delay to fatten things up but it's already pretty fat without it. Plus it's polyphonic. I use it and Viking together more often than any others.
No, NS1 is quite nice. Like my old Juno, it's a nice bread and butter synth. You're not going to be doing complicated patches with it, but that also means it's easy to get into. It comes with some presets, but rolling your own is straightforward. The interface is flat like Ableton Live's, which I like. There's at least one video review of it on YouTube. Possibly The Soundest Room's?
Thanks, i bought it and it' s a fantastic synth,i love it. Very 80´s , What is this synth in Scarface ´s ost ? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=aKv1_GfxFZY
Hmm... so NS1 is close to a Juno? (I do have a Juno-106 and so far only the TAL-U-NO-LX-V2 is the only one getting even remotely close to the real thing). If NS1 ever goes on sale I'll propably grab it anyway, can't have enough AUs
I just sprung for NS1 after checking out the developers website. It sounds good I'll definitely be using it
What you said...doubleplus
Viking is elegant and powerful.
I'm considering Viking Synth.
The app store reviews say that you can only save presets in AUM and Garageband.
Are the factory presets available in any AU host?
Also, if I create and save a preset while hosting Viking in AUM, will I see it in Cubasis?
Thanks.
I don't know about cross-program presets. I assume they should work, since they are saved within the AU interface. But I've only used it with AUM (which I've had no problem saving presets with, by the way).
Viking is rock solid for the price, but don't expect a Moog Voyager emulation like they orginally claimed. It more of just a very capable generic 'analog' synth. I like the low end but not the higher lead sounds so much.
I bought it. I made some of my own presets in AUM. One of the great things about this app is how easy it is to program.
You can indeed see the factory presets in Cubasis and Modstep. But my personal presets weren't there.
My presets from AUM also didn't turn up in Garageband. You can save presets there, but they'll be different from the ones in AUM.
This doesn't happen with iSEM.
Hopefully Blamsoft will address this at some point.
Agreed.
From what I understand this is how the AU spec is currently designed to work, though there are developers who are addressing this with Apple

With Cubasis 1.9.8 Audio Unit plug-in parameters cannot be automated.
Can AU plug-ins be automated in any host currently?
Aum with au + genome or modstep ? But im not the best at all for answering too much technical or sound engineering Stuff ...
