Bluetooth 5---2x speed, 4x range
Saw this via daring fireball from an article on macrumours, http://www.macrumors.com/2016/06/10/bluetooth-5-4x-speed-and-doubling-range/
At the mo, I only use bluetooth for streaming music from my ipad to my car radio, would like to see what streaming audio to my mbp would be like, be nice to go wireless.

The same article also mentioned the rumors about the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7s not having a headphone jack which would mean Bluetooth or lightning connector headphones. If true, the only analog signal into those devices would be the built-in mic.
I'm kind of glad I don't hear the same rumours for ipad, but think it will just be a matter of time if it gets introduced for iphone, least with iphone though you get a pair of headphones included, but it's nice to be able to use your own cans or in-ears.
That will not be good for those who make music on their devices. Even if it's faster, still too many things to go wrong there, as well as eliminating the use of trusted studio headphones (without the inevitable adapter apple will sell...).
Great, just after I pre-ordered a Korg Nanokey Studio they come out with BT5! Haha oh well
Buy something in the morning, get home in the afternoon and it's already been superseded by the bigger, stronger, better, mor mor mor, (sounds of a whip crack).
Been digging a little and found that it could have theoretical speed of 2mbs and a range upto a 1000ft-300m. Looks like a lot of improvements for location aware stuff and home automation thingies.

BT is a fantastic invention. This will only make it better.
Is latency improved? Damned laws of physics!
I'm not sure, most the info floating around is just repeating the same thing, think the big reveal is on the 16th of june.
I agree with @funjunkie27. Latency is pretty important--it would have been the first thing I asked about.
Let's wait for what mr. Bluetooth ( @SecretBaseDesign ) has to say ...
