Thanks for the heads up. We're already aware of this and looking into it.
I just tested locally with Link, and it seems also not very stable...
In Audio remote or AB, there's also no stop button included, that means you can't stop LP2 without going into the app and deselect the pads. A neat addition should be to have a stop button that cancel all loops.
Or better : push stop : on hold all current loop, then, a play button into AB bar, or Remote, to play the loops on hold.
This or midi also...
Isn't the point of the app to be using the pads ?
@AndyPlankton absolutely, but I guess it could be a bit flexible for an app that would like to get into the Link workflow, don't you think ?
That also makes launchpad mini absolutely needed, to do approximatively the same thing (but still add some buttons to push...) but it opens the joy of this controler not working properly with a usb hub, so that makes it useless, but you've already bought it, too bad, you've been screwed in the loop...
Have you probs with iPad Mini ? Have you contacted Novation Support ? Have they told you is doesn't work with a hub ?
One thing to try is to connect your hub before you connect the LP Mini.
But then you wouldn't have to make your fingers dance elegantly across the screen to orchestrate a stop. Can be very satisfying when you pull it off
LMAOOO !!
I'll admit that when i first got the LP app, way back when, I did look for a stop all and it seemed strange there wasn't one, but since I now use it mainly with the controller I haven't missed it.
Nope, yes, evasive answers.
But I have to admit since they never answer either on their forums, very evasive answers from the support , and now that they're advertising all their release here, I'm a bit suspicious.
Don't get me wrong, this is not personal matter at all, I just see that beyond a 30 seconds demo (nicely done) track with all their flashing controllers, there's so much restrictions, at this time, to use the apps and hardware with other devices or apps.
See...This is a problem, to me, having a crazy app that launch loops all the time in the middle of your set.
Soon, we'll have a midi button to stop Link in AB3, but the only one that won't work : bam, LP....Once again...
Even if I definitely admit that LP and BW are GREAT concepts, it's unfortunately, if not useless, extremely limited, at least for my purposes (witch is quite imple I guess : using it at the same time with other stuffs, like in a studio, to make music...anyway...)
I've asked for so little requests that should have been integrated for 3 years now :
-one time loop WITH playing to the end of loop BEFORE goes to an other loop. (this is also the case for Blocs Wave BTW, with sections, but also the loops into the sections...)
Without this, it makes impossible to stop or play a loop entirely, and makes something else on an other app...You need to focus on LP "center of the universe app" only...pfff...
-midi sync slave
-midi learn (same problem for Blocs Wave)
-IMPORT/EXPORT/Backup of your tracks and parameters !!!! Can you believe that as a pro app, you can never make any backup of anything ???? So new ipad : new everything ???!!
(need to check this for Blocs Wave BTW...)
And now, on top of that, we still have glitches after 3 years, even on a Ipad pro...
And Link is integrated, yeeha, but not in sync, and it plays all the time...
My 2 cents...
I had a typo in my initial response, i meant have you had issues with Launchpad Mini and not iPad Mini, sorry for that.
I have used their email support to good effect to get hardware issues resolved. Remember that they cannot provide support for your specific HUB, unless of course it is the one built into the AudioHub. I have a random issue where on rare occasion the LP app does not recognise my Launchpad MK2, unplugging/replugging the CCK (and therefore also the hub and LP) does not fix it, but connecting the hub first and then the Launchpad does. Worth a try ? I have reported this to them.
There is setting for one shot under the loop/pad settings as well as the quantise, does this not sort your one time loop requirement ? Or is it something different to this.
You CAN now slave to midi clock, indirectly anyway......Use Midi Link Sync app to slave to the clock, and then have LP use link to connect to Midi Link Sync.
Midi Learn - Currently I don't think you can use other controllers with the App.
IMPORT/EXPORT - I completely agree 100% with this, and i have brought this up many times, this seems simple at first but is complicated by the fact that they have the soundpacks to deal with, essentially in LP a project is a soundpack, so if they allow backup it becomes easy to pirate the soundpacks. This does however mean that you cannot backup your own work. They are aware of this, but the solution is not clear at the moment I don't think. And yes, the same is true of Blocs Wave. I do know that this is something they have been looking at in depth.
Link sync timing seems fine to me...perhaps as I played in a band for so long I am used to sloppy timing
Audio glitches they are aware of and looking into.
As Link does not have start/stop - I guess this will rely on midi start/stop or something built into the AB SDK itself, AB3 will provide the necessary mechanisms, but it will still be down to the individual apps to 'behave' with it. I doubt very much that all apps will work with this immediately after AB3 is released. (apologies @Sebastian / @Michael if this is not true)
All of this going on and peeps demand Panning...tsk...
Yes, just checked, no backup for Bloc Wave either...Crazy...
There's tons of solutions without saving the samples : saving presets with names and/or length. This been used in cubase for decades for retrieving samples for an old project...
Piracy ? Well, why can't you save your own sample, and the one used from the sample bank saved with a reference (your sure they won't have a different name...)
Panning or any demand are fine for me, just the basic requirement are still not there, and nobody see that... (play with others apps in time and play when you want it, then midi : standard from the 80', fix glitches, make backups...)
@Crony said:
Yes, it is the pad setup, tempo, FX setup that needs to be saved, I can do the sample management myself with Audioshare/Dropbox, not all users are as experienced though, and they are trying to cater for all and trying to get new users onto the platform.
I do have faith that they will get there, as always it is a case of priorities. Right now, I guess, the highest priority is to fix the glitches and performance issues on the 32 bit devices that peeps have reported.
In the mean time, I'm enjoying what I can do, rather than thinking about what I can't
