What's the point of a synth having Ableton link?

Why is it good for a synth like Mersenne to have Link? Is it just so its arp will set/follow the tempo of other apps it is linked to, or are there other benefits?

    Arps, LFOs, anything with a timing mechanism.

    Arps,Lfo's,Tempo Delays..... Like 1p18 said. anything that uses timing benefits from being in time with everything else.

    The other benefit is that you can jam together with your friends and don't have to worry about timing...
    (Try syncing two laptops, good luck)

    See Ableton Link as a global 'metronome'. Every app listens to it and does it's best to stay in sync with it.
    Any player can at anytime change the tempo and the others do their best to follow :D

    Right. The only 'quantising' that might happen is that the playback starts at the next 'tick' to keep everything tight.
    Like when you press play in a drum-sequencer it will not start until next tick to keep it in sync.

    Hopefully on a beginning of next BAR, if not, you may be 1-3 beats off...
    Look at launchpad or blocs waves, they always start on beat one

    If you play live and play off rhythm, you will be still off rhythm, LINK won't fix that.
    Quantising is for recording only.
