How do you control the BPM on Auria Pro from DrumPerfect Pro? (Solved)
One of the great things about DrumPerfect Pro is that you can save a BPM within a pattern. This makes it really easy to create a song that speeds up or slows down.
But I can't figure out how to set up DrumPerfect Pro to make another app follow the BPM changes in a DPP song.
I am most interested in having it drive Auria Pro, as that's where I record, but I would also be interested in knowing how to make it work with AUM, Cubasis, and other drum apps. I haven't had any success using Ableton Link to follow the BPM changes in a DrumPerfect Pro song. It just syncs up to the first BPM in the song.
This is the kind of question @Kaikoo2 excels at answering. Are you out there K2?

@Reid ,
You can not control Cubasis and Auria Pro clocks with most of apps, first of all.
Modstep can, but a bit cluggy when stopping the Auria playhead.
I have your solution for your question.
So if Auria or Cubasis are the mater and DPP is slaved then should there be a way to record the tempo change in them?
@Reid,
I have DPP but I am not one of the users.
I understand what it is basically. You can have it driven by other apps' clock, but DPP can not drive other app by its own clock.
The only solution is Modstep to DPP or Modstep to AUM to DPP IAA. Both methods work on BPM change. Their is an Ableton Link to be tick here.
Modstep has BPM specific for each scene. By short tapping that right hand side square of each scene to begin the playing (chain mode). By longer press, you can edit each of the scenes BPM. Then chaining them by change the looping number of times on that scene setting panel.
So I have tested it for you, working well when Ableton Links are linked. You can have Modstep send the notes on those scenes. Or maybe you just use empty scenes for that matter and has DPP with its own pattern play by Modstep. However, the program changes value might be needed on Modstep to command DPP patterns for changing. That is another question I have not done with my test. But it is not that difficult. All should be expected to work well.
@Reid,
For Modstep to DPP. Don't forget to have Link with.
Here is photo when DPP (all inst) on AUM IAA.
Done!
Thanks @Kaikoo2
There is another solution, which is to simply record the entire DrumPerfect song as an audio file. And then play live against as if it was a live drummer that speeds up/slows down.
Otherwise, it's probably easier to make the tempo changes within Auria and control BPM from Auria to DrumPerfect Pro.
If you do that way, why you ask me for begin?
That is not what you ask for on midi things.
You are gussing by thinking Auria can do it? I tell you, not possible? Can you do and show me? That is your problem every time I do for you, you just try another way to compare!
I apologize @Kaikoo2 Sorry to waste your time.
I was absolutely asking about MIDI. You answered my question 100% by saying that Auria Pro and Cubasis clocks an't be controlled by DrumPerfect Pro.
In future I will make very, very clear that I don't want a Modstep solution, because I don't use--and won't ever use--the program.
No worry, mate!
I have no idea with other programs how this can be accomplished except the Modstep. Maybe someone can give a hand on this?
Thanks @Kaikoo2
I've sent a note to Marinus and Gilbert, the creators of DPP. Maybe they will have a suggestion.
Kaikoo2, you do a lot of great work for people here on the forum. You really go out of your way to help and devote a lot of time and energy. A big thank you and a round of applause to you. I'm sure many people have benefited from your insight, especially concerning midi. We're lucky to have you here.
@AndyE, Thank you.
I just bought NS1. It is very good on Modstep. Should I said it is a very friendly AU synth to morph and to create sound track with!
It can be further shaped by many good effect apps. It is a very unique and awesome morphing and sequencing experience on Modstep. So give NS1 a chance if you can. Cheers.
I totally agree. Thank you @Kaikoo2 You are very generous and make this forum a much better place.
I heard back from Marinus.
DrumPerfect Pro doesn't send out MIDI (yet) so it can't clock Auria or Cubasis.
But it will change tempo relative to the original bpm.
So if my song starts out 120 bpm and Auria is sending out 120... and then my pattern switches to 130 bpm, it will speed up in my Auria track. But the clock will be 120 bpm.
I don't have Auria Pro but it explains how this works on page 135 of the manual. It seems to work just like
Cubase on the Desktop. You place a tempo marker on the timeline where the change is to occur and you set the new tempo. So if you know the tempo changes from 120 bpm to 150 bpm at the 2:03 in the DPP file set a marker in Auria at 2:03 and adjust the tempo to 150 bpm.
Thanks @hacked_to_pieces Yes, I was sort of aware that Auria Pro does this, although I've never used it.
But I do spend a lot of time in DrumPerfect Pro making patterns with different bpms.... I was curious whether this could be used in any way.
I am going to mark this discussion as solved.
