BLeeP BoX: Love, LINK or leave?

In speaking with Dave(developer) as he works diligently on LINK for Genome, he asked my opinion on BLEEP BOX. Actually, I brought it up a week earlier and he came back to it and asked how I thought BLEEP BOX with LINK would do?

Naturally, I bring the question here.

Personally, I think BLEEP BOX would be a perfect app for LINK. Great for simple yet substantial beats and 303 style basslines. Easy yet solid sounds on the fly. And yes, it is Universal.

What say you BLEEP BOX and if he should take the time to ADD LINK to it?

Not sure on Genome date yet, once I do I will let you know.

Comments

  • Bought it when it first came out. Never could figure it out. Maybe the UI. Hasn't been loaded on my device in forever. Might be worth a retry if it has had some overhauls though.

  • Bleep box is cool and would be even better with link as would any ios sequencing app.

I'm a big fan of bleep!BOX, the song mode still stumps me but I use it as a set of drum and perc synths, sequenced in DAWs, and sound wise and tweak wise it's more fun than a barrel o monkeys. Link going in falls outside my use case, but I'm voting Si! because it may attract new users to a great app.

@RustiK funny you and I seemed to be reaching out to dev Dave at the same time: I was pestering him about getting access to one of his old vsti's, Zero Vector. Dude has made so much cool shit over the years.

  • @RustiK hey, I emailed him a couple days ago about BB. Haven't got a reply. Perhaps you know the answer?

    Here's what I sent:

    Hey,

Genome has been working out great for me. :) it's one of those apps I didn't know I needed until I started using it.

But, now I'd like to do similar sequencing with my iPhone too. Doesn't look like there's anything like Genome for the iPhone. Any chance Genome will go universal?

If not, it looks like your app Bleep!Box might do what I was after, i.e. sequence AU synths running in AUM via midi like I'm doing with Genome. Is that correct? If so, can midi be imported/exported from bleep!box like you can with Genome?

Lastly, it looks like the last update was in 2014. Does that mean it's pretty much done with regard to updates or development?

  • Bleep!box deserve Link, no doubt for me...
As I'm more into Modstep, I don't use Genome anymore, so it's less a priority, to me...

  • The remix mode/page in BleepBox is amazing. As it is in Genome.

It lets you mess with the pattern in wonderful ways.

But in BB the remix page doesn't send midi out. :) (unlike Genome).

So my vote would be LINK and remix page midi out for BB if possible. Then I'd use it on the iPhone for sure.

  • I really like playing around with BLeeP BoX. I'm certain that I would like it even better with LINK.

  • I used Bleep!Box really heavily for a while, in fact I had to wean myself off it because I was using it in everything... it would be great if it got a new lease of life with Link!

You mean you over indulged with a "bleeping" app?

I told him a day or so ago about adding MIDI out to Bleep so then we could use it as an ad hoc sequencer

Confused. Doesn't bleep already do midi out? In one of his videos he shows his bleep sequence controlling an external synth. At least that's what I thought. The description says it supports midi doesn't it?

Oh yes - those built in synths - so good for basslines!

  • One of my first music apps. Sounds great after not using it for some time. Things like AB and AUM have me re-visiting some of these older apps and being presently surprised!
