Audio interface that works on both Ipad and Macbook
Hi, I was looking at buying the Behringer U-Phoria UMC202HD Audio interface for my MacBook Pro but I'm now considering selling my Alesis io Dock and buying an audio interface that works with both my MacBook and my iPad.
So far I can only find the Focusrite iTrack Solo.
Does anyone here use this product? or another product that works with both Laptop and iPad?
Thanks

Oh, and I would like to do it without using a camera connection kit.
I've been using Apogee Duet: http://www.apogeedigital.com/products/duet
It has worked beautifully on Mac and iPad
If you ever plan on upgrading to the 12 inch iPad Pro, the iTrack Dock won't do you much good without an adapter which kind of defeats one of the purposes of the dock. That being said, I do have the iTrack Dock which works well with the smaller iPads (and the iPad Pro when used with an adapter). When I bought my Pro I purchased the iConnectAUDIO4+. It works great with both my ipad and MacBook.
Akai EIE 16 bit works for ipad, mac, and pc.
I second the iconnectaudio4+ although I use it with a windows PC but I'm pretty sure it works perfectly on Mac as well. Unlike most audio interfaces you can actually connect both at the same time. And send midi and audio between them.
This seems to really limit your options as few manufacturers are willing to create hardware with Apple iOS only features because Apple changes these frequently relative to the expected operation of the hardware. The Lightning to USB 3 Camera Connection Kit does allow you to power your device and run an audio interface plus USB MIDI devices via a powered USB hub.
Some questions you might want answers to for the iTrack solo lighting or other lightning audio interface:
Can you connect USB MIDI devices through its USB port?
Is it USB 3 or USB 2, what will the performance differences be?
Will it charge your iOS device?
If you mean simultaneously your choices are the iConnectAUDIO2+ or the iConnectAUDIO4+
If you mean you want to use it with either at different times, then your choices are fairly wide.
Most of the Focusrite range, Presonus USB range, Steinberg range, others. (Not all from every manufacturer, but most in each of the lower-cost USB offerings from each manufacturer)
What are your specific goals @Rex ?
Not sure why you would exclude using the CCK.
Steinberg UR44 , it also comes with DSP for iPad and Mac.

Best interface/ analog digital hybrid mixer I have used. I suggest the new camera connection kit as well. If you don't have any board experience than I'd suggest a behringer uphoria 4x4 with the new cck http://www.fullcompass.com/prod/273527-Behringer-UMC404HD?utm_source=googleps&utm_medium=shopping&utm_campaign=googleps&st-t=googleshopping-audio_all_day_long&vt-k=&vt-mt=&vt-pti=273527&gclid=CLSaw8_Qx80CFQepaQodbbIHmg I sent this back only because I purchased my Yamaha on sale during a flash sale on interfaces and mixers. I love analog boards and manual mixing. Both are great options and work with or without a computer the new cck is needed of course which is 45 with tax. They both have 4 preamps and pads. Yamaha mixer has on board effects which sound amazing. Focusrite is another one id suggest looking into for any of their products.
@Rex you have very limited options if you don't want the camera kit. It's worth it otherwise you have about one or two choices just get studiomux or musicIO if you are hell bent on not purchasing the adapter! I use it with my old Scarlett 2i2 and it can charge your phone or iPad very quickly. It can route midi from multiple sources depending on your powered hub.
iRig Pro Duo should also do the trick. It doesn't come with an AC power cord. You have to buy that separately.
