I'll keep my account so I can check for new release feedback but I'm out of this forum. I've had enough bigoted right-wing stuff on other social networking sites to last me a lifetime, and can do without seeing it on here. Bye.

  • I'm not following all the threads (I only read abut 10% of the forum, on a good day), but where were the racist right-wing opinions expressed? I genuinely didn't see them.

  • The copyright thread. Sadly, this place has lost some of its sparkle recently.

That's one of those I hadn't read. Just looked at the last couple of pages, glad I didn't join in that particular bun fight.

  • I said nothing racist or right wing, but I suppose you can choose to manipulate my words into a non argument if you choose. I actually said a few things that were rude and insensitive using 'gay' to describe lame. I apologize for hurting your feelings, and sad to see you get so upset over my dumb choice of words. I have no political side, but I am glad to see you are passionate about your 'side' of the spectrum... Having said that I will not tolerate being manipulated as you are doing. I do not need this in my life. If you cannot accept the fact that sometimes people respond immaturely over the internet that is your problem. This did not need to be its own thread.

Yes a lot of butt hurting over the whole Brexit thing for sure . However neither side was more rude than the other. This just adds more drama you know. After following the other thread I knew what this one was about prior to even reading it.

There is none. She is reacting to quotes from me trying to be nice to her at first. I apologized for using adjectives such as "fake and gay" when describing sampling artists work. It was insensitive and I wasn't in a good state of mind. This is a classic straw man. Throwing punches then running away. Typical behavior of the internet, what can I say other than I am sorry if you are upset over my choice of words yesterday

The App Store thread is full of right-wing chest beating, amazed you can't see it. For some that's unpleasant.

Take the point about racist comments though, so I've amended that to cover nastiness in other threads , though the slagging off of Wales was unnecessary.

You were just nasty, and not just to me. And my 'po ' response was something we do on here when things start getting horrible, not sure what you thought it meant but no excuse for the stuff you were saying .

Anyway , this isn't a long dramatic goodbye, just wanted to adjust my original comment for accuracy . I'll enjoy the good bits of the forum from a safe distance

  • So the globalists are wrong then? People don't always get along? Yeah, we already knew that. It's called: The entire history of human civilization.

  • edited June 2016

To be fair I was told to shut the fuck up, and that I was retarded. I reacted in a way that was not appropriate. I even apologized. You decided to make a whole thread blaming Right wingers, and bigots. You even lumped every right winger into the category of being racist. How would you like it if every time you said something someone else didn't like you were called a FAR LEFT LEFTIST FASCIST?! Why inject politics into everything? You call yourself progressive? Make some progress with the rest of us and stop labeling each other with political sides. It's setting us back 50 years.

  • On the positive side:

This is a great place to come to get knowledgeable replies on all things regarding iOS music making. The SOTMC thing is a great thing and this an invaluable place to find out about new apps etc / hear what people are doing with these apps.

    On the negative:

There always seems to be some kind of weirdness going on with trolling and (some) downright rude members, which combined with a very 'hands off' approach to moderation, that allows too many insults to slip through.

  • I think we all need to take stock and remember that we here are an international community. Language is often a barrier to communicating our thoughts. It's so easy to offend unintentionally or not.

I am not free or above from this curse of language problems, neither are you @carol. We get reactionary at times. It's difficult not to when passions run high. Yet leaving the forums is not really the answer, and I doubt you really believe it is.

I am sure we will see you again soon and have fun discussion on apps as we always have @carol :)

Really? That is one thread I have followed and I don't remember a single thing posted there that I would describe as right-wing. There are hardly any right-wing members of the forum (well if there are they keep quiet), I think the arguments I saw in that thread were all from a left-wing perspective (typical left-wing in-fighting in fact :) )

Regarding the Wales thing, that didn't come across as racist to me, just someone relating their experiences. I've also encountered the "you're not from round here" attitude in various parts of the UK (and the world), I wouldn't consider it racist to talk about them.

I don't know, but the threads that cause the most friction here
    are the interesting political threads.
If you can't stand the heat don't go into the kitchen near the oven,
    meaning just ignore those threads.

Maestro use the word "ghey" instead of gay when referring to lame stuff.
That way you don't offend anyone's sensitivity meter.

I'm not that easy to offend, but actually I do find that offensive. "Lame" is also offensive if you take the time to think about it, but I can let that one go. "Gay", or even "Ghey" for me is a complete no-no. It's also passé, the kids don't say it, only those of a certain age.

  • @Nathan sadly also left today, though his goodbuy post seems to have disapppeared ...

  • Hopefully a new app comes out soon. When's the last time a big, slam dunk app came out of nowhere?

  • edited June 2016

Nah I didn't know it was that sensitive around here. I was just giving some insight on what the "younger" crowd views as lame I will just keep away from the sensitive subjects, and use my manners and not my iPhone to type ;). > @Fruitbat1919 said:

    THIS x10000
I feel like an alien sometimes. I have to walk on eggshells in order to not offend anyone accidentally by saying an american phrase, or vice versa. Someone will have a saying overseas that isn't well known in the states and I feel like I am getting trolled. It is part of the forums charm IMO.

  • Yes lame is offensive I totally agree :o. I shall go now.

    dito,
the funny thing is ppl started complaining about my language when I said this attitude can suck my gay cock. lol

    btw. whats offensive about lame/"boring"?
I know what the dictionary says but it certainly doesn't mean "special ability".

I studied colloquialism when doing my nurses training. We came to the conclusion, that it is virtually impossible to not cause offence at some point due to the use of localised meanings of certain words. Then reading actual intent on the Internet is pretty difficult. Somebody's joke is another persons trigger for deeply felt offence.

All I will say is that the AB forums are among the best sites for its ability to balance rules with freedom of expression. Does it fail sometimes? Do we fail sometimes? Of course, but hey we are human and not infallible :)

Don't overreact. I say "lame", so do my kids, but I was just trying to point out the origin of the word: "lame" refers to a person who can't walk normally. It's not a great way to describe stuff we don't like, but it's become so common that we don't stop and think what it means.

"Gay" there is no excuse, everyone knows what that means.

  • It means happy :D

  • So, what does "douchebag Donny dick rider" mean? In America they would be fighting words.

  • I find the word offensive offensive.

  • Shut the fuck up donny is from a movie. Look it up. He was implying for me to shut the fuck up in a very passive aggressive way. I called him a dick rider meaning to take ones side of the argument no matter what the occasion. To always have their back because they admire them.

  • Why did @Nathan leave ? D:
