iOS 9 Slide Over - Split View Poll

Slide Over allows you to pull in a second app with a swipe from the right edge of the display. Split View lets you interact with two apps simultaneously side by side in a 50/50 split. iOS9 came out last fall so we've had some time to incorporate them into our workflow. For everything you do on your iPad including music how much do you use them and why?

  • I jailbreaked my Air 1 ,and now it supports split view. I think it depends on the apps supporting those features ,but split view is definitely helpful.

  • I voted "occasionally", but only because more apps don't support Split View yet, so it's rarely an option. Hope it gains mode widespread support.

Slide Over, however, I find little use for, as it's almost always easier to just task-switch rather than use that to peek at another app.

(I'm using Split View right now with iBooks and ComicGlass to see what's different in the PDFs of the previous and latest versions of Gadget's Studio Guide. That and the Gadget Guide got updated just now.)

  • I just split view a lot but not for music apps (except notion)

  • TC Performer is good with slide view.

  • I have started using apps that support split view much more lately. In a live setting, AB remote and Sidecar in split view give me the big picture view and control of my whole setup.

  • Agh, SplitView and SlideOver are the worst when working with Audiobus. I wish the slide over tab wasn't there

I feel your pain. I've wrestled with the two quite a bit. Half the reason I started using remote in split screen!

  • Ive disabled it. Every time Im trying to get to the Audiobus tab it gets in the way! Two tabs competing to be slid open, I had to choose. Bye bye slideover. Now I dont miss it

  • I'm using it right now, watching Doug play with the Mellow Tape Module Expansion in YouTube on the left as I type this into chrome on the right.

Sounds like porn and your homework all at once. You kids and your multi-tasking....

That's cool. I'll have to try it.

I disabled all multi tasking on my primary screen for AB reasons. On my secondary/controller pad I only run a couple of synths in the background inside AUM, to save resources for my primary unit. I absolutely love Slide Over on this secondary unit as it gives me my AB Remote Triggers and Fast Switching while still being able to see other on screen activity and the ability to bring it into the foreground with one touch.

I do wish that I could get rid of the triggers in Audiobus Remote when it's in Slide Over format however, and just have bigger fast switching buttons.
