Module IAP's in Gadget

Does anyone know if it is possible to buy IAP's for module through Gadget ?

The reason i ask is that I generally don't use module on it's own, and if I have the sounds installed in Gadget, then I don't need to have Module installed as I can use Gadget as a sound module if required, my module install is close to 1 GB, which would be very useful space to have back. But If I uninstalled would I have to re-install if I wanted to buy further IAP's ?

  • The answer is yes. You'd have to reinstall. Since modules store doesnt show up in any of the gadgets. Also. I don't think gadget actually installs a separate copy of all the sounds. According to the storage tab in settings my free space remained unchanged before and after enabling the module gadgets. Even though gadget said it would require 1 GB. So removing module might disable the gadgets. Havent tested it myself.

:| Damn! Better start saving for a bigger iPad then :s

  • Once Module and iM1 have been "installed" in Gadget you can remove them from your device. That's how it worked for me this weekend. I had to clear some space to have Module and Gadget on my 16 GB iPad at the same time but now I just have Gadget at about 800 MB and everything is there plus over 1 GB free.

You sure everything's there ? Strange that you'd have everything in just 800 mb. One of the downsides of removing im1 is you lose the ability to Change the inbuilt effects witch each patch to make user presets.

Some space saving could be explained by the reduced UI for Module in gadget, less graphics data required.

@anickt How big is 'Other' storage ? I suspected in the past that some of this is Module files for Gadget.

No I'm not sure everything is there (I can't really take the time to do a full comparison) but there's a helluva lot more than I'll ever use! :D

Not sure about Other right now. Despite some of the restrictions my palette overflows.

I've decided to make Gadget my music making device and stop fighting with MIDI, sync all all the other nonsense that I've been dealing with. I can always bring an app or two in to make loops or samples but there's so much to draw from in Gadget I wonder if I'll ever need to do that. Recent Gadget updates pushed me over the edge.

That's generally the way I see things too - if i'm making a 'proper' track the only way to go (in my book) is 'Made with Gadget'. Too much faffing around every time you sit down to work otherwise...

The only exception is when i'm just jamming around with stuff for fun (Animoog, Samplr, BlocWaves, Infinite Looper, Elastic Drums etc.) or when i'm making samples and loops to bring into the Gadget samplers (which can be relatively painless if you go via DropBox).

I have come back to gadget after a few months away, Since I last used it the multi midi in and the new gadgets, and per channel FX have all been added.
I find I get my ideas down far quicker in Gadget than anything else, because there is no plumbing to do.

I am still going to use my other tools, ModStep, Launchpad, Blocs wave, but Gadget is where I will do most of my jamming, due to the speed of getting things down. I think with the MultMidi in, and per channel FX it will be far more fluid when bringing the other tools into the mix.
